I was trading with another kid, and I had it sitting beside me. My brother watched some chick walk off with it. She just picked it up when I wasn't looking. =\ I was like, 7.

Marowak maxing out its attack would mean that the attack stat is over 550, though you need Thick Club for that. Add Swords Dance, Bonemerang, AncientPower to that, and Double-Edge with the Rock Head ability and you have a fine sweeper. The speed stat is lacking, but that problem can be fixed with Baton Passing Ninjask's speed increases to Marowak.

Sandslash on the other hand does have good attack, but way inferior to Marowak's attack. It has high defence and is capable of using Substitute effectively. STAB-Earthquake and Rockslide do make Sandslash a potential threat, but nevertheless Marowak is superior. Marowak's high attack stat combined with Bonemerang breaks any and all Substitutes, so there is no stalling against Marowak. Without a strong water, grass or ice-type move Marowak isn't easily defeated.

I'm talking Red/Blue Sandslash here, possibly Gold/Silver too.

I have Gold, and I don't think you can get a Sandslash in Gold can you? I loved my Sandslash...
