- Are you planning to buy Gears of War 2? Absolutely!

- Did you purchase the original game? Yes on release date.

- Are Xbox LIVE matches on Gears of War 2 part of your future agenda? Of course

- What excites you about this game? Using dead bodies as cover especially when online. That could come in handy. Also locking chainsaws will reduce the amount of noobs that use it.

I dont like Gears due to the art style. But I will give credit where it is due. The game looks great (graphics). The gameplay. Still stop and pop. BUT I will give this game a shot through Gamefly.

Fact. Chainsaw locking amounts upto mashing B as fast as possable. So no, the noobs will still spam it.

Are you sure that mashing B will win a lock down? How do you know they didn't implement a system of hitting the correct button when it flashes on screen?

Because it is very easy to tell. A big B flashing alot normally means to mash the button as fast as you can.

No how do you know? Is there a video on this leaked or maybe info from the developer about how chainsaw battles will be won... I know how the first game worked. I was hoping you had some info I didn't know.

Some peeps over at 1up said some stuff about it.

The most that it would be was a random button to mash.

Even so I still feel that a bit of button mashing will control a good portion of the noob population. Before it was a 50-50 shot that chainsawing let you win battles against anyone even the best players. If 2 come at each other at full rev it goes either way.

The chainsaw battles will unfortunately incorporate button smashing as Cliffy B doesn't want to turn to button-specific commands.

New multiplayer information!

June 10th - Gears of War 2: Multiplayer Details

- Online matches will partake between teams of five instead of four, totaling the playing field to ten.

- Classic modes are making a comeback (Deathmatch and a revamped version of Assassination)

- Guardian, or the new Assassination, is essentially the same game, but respawns are allotted until your leader dies.

- Meatflag, from what I understand, is a game of capture the flag in which the flag is an AI controlled enemy. Teams must down the 'flag' and grab his body to take him back to their base to win.

- Wingman sounds like it will be of the two versus two variety with each team featuring the same character (i.e. Marcus and Marcus vs. Dom and Dom).

Time to resurrect this thread for new tidbits. Nothing I would call spoilers, just interesting facts on the upcoming game, novels, and movie. Game specific information is in bold print.

Steve Jablonsky recently finished the last recording session at Skywalker Sound for the soundtrack. He also did Transformers and the remake of Texas Chainsaw Massacre.

You'll see Carmine brother Anthony in the game.

There's a 130 dollar bundle of Gears 2 that will include an actual Lancer. No, it's not a functioning gun. Note: The information about the bundle -- including pricing and what it will include -- is unconfirmed by Microsoft and is subject to change.

Gears 2 is "just as much Dom's story as Marcus'."

Dizzy's hat can be shot off in multiplayer. Dizzy is voiced by Peter Jason from Deadwood.

The collector's edition of Gears 2 will include the photo of Dom and his wife that Dom actually carries through the campaign. He pulls it out to ask people if they've seen Maria.

Both the comic and the novel are prequels to Gears 2 but take place after the first game. The comic stars a new COG soldier who makes a cameo in the campaign mode of the second game.

Jack, the helpful little robot from Gears 1 has much more screen time in Gears 2.

The panel showed off a Gears of War Xbox 360 adorned with fancy artwork and a red paint job. One side of the console showed frenzied Locust and the other showed COG soldiers.

The Gears novel comes out on October 28. Karen Travis also wrote the Republic Commando novels and love writing about war. She quizzed the folks at Epic asking, "How do the soldiers clean the chainsaw bayonet? What does their armor feel like?" Cliff had no answer when she originally posed the question. At one point Ortega suggested that they use "Lancer floss."

The Corpser is in the game.

Dom's older brother Carlos, who is a friend of Marcus', is in the novel.

Len Wiseman is directing the Gears movie, Chris Morgan is doing the script and Legendary Pictures is co-financing. Cliff is an executive producer on the project.

The actor playing the lead role might not be the massive buff guy that people expect.

Cliff enjoyed lighting things on fire and dressing as a ninja as a kid.

Thirty percent of Gears 2 takes place in The Hollow (the Locust lair). Cliff made the distinction to ensure that people didn't think it was a "cave game."

People think Jon DiMaggio is hilarious. Especially when he converses with himself in the Bender and Marcus Fenix voices.
Anybody else want a life size lancer?
