Not an instant classic, more like a game that makes you feel incredibly refreshed after playing. This is what it does to me, there really are no qualms about it in my opinion.

It will be the comparison for all sandbox games to come. I'd say it deserves near perfect marks for that alone. We all know perfection can't be achieved, so the next closest thing in reviewing terms is a 10/10.

Edit: In terms of instant classics, the majority of games that score that well are remembered. I don't think we'll just forget about Bioshock five years from now.

^yeah but in five years GTA 4 will be nothing to GTA 5. While Games like Zelda OOT and Super Smash will live on even after the next installment comes out.

Strange, I seem to remember playing and thoroughly enjoying GTA III of which was released back in 2001. =\ Hell, I even recall playing GTA II from a bird's eye view before they went 3D with the series.

^but do most people? No most people just want to use cheats and kill cops, GTA is more of a game allot of people buy but like Halo 3 just because you have a huge fan base that does not mean your game is perfect.

Who are you kidding? The game was near-perfect! I'm enjoying every little bit of detail in the game. True that I was very surprised and shocked to find out that it missed a lot of things that were in SA, but who cares? It compensates then with all the new features.

Anyway, I'd give it a 9.7/10.

Anyway, they worked hard as hell on this game. Of course it deserves a near perfect score, you'd want a perfect score if you put your blood and sweat into a product as well.
