Pokemon game help

ok i'm making a pokemon game using rpg maker xp and well i am kinda stuck for the 3 starters

should they be

1st (Bulbasaur(,Charmander and Squirtle)
2nd (Chikarita,Cindaquil and Totadile)
3rd (Treeko,Torchic, Mudkip)
4th (Turtwig,Chimchar and Piplup)

or a new set (non original)

for example

Geodude,Pichu,Poliwag(or that marill one)

so what do oyu guys think? also i will take happily take any suggestions/help for my game.

The first set. They were the original and the best. None of this new 350+ bollocks.

lol lets see what everyone else thinks i'm slightly tipped towards the custom set lol but not enough over the other ones for testing purposes at the moment i am using the 2nd genaration because will it has cyndaquil also the starter kit i'm using already comes with all current pokemon coded in so i guess i'll probebly use most of them lol.

maybe but whatever starts you don't get you can catch at some point i have picked the first route encounters

Pidgey,Sentret,Tangela(not common),Zigzagoon,Hoppip,Shinx(not common)

what do you guys think?

Why not mix generations?

How about Charmander (great fire Pokemon and great attack stats although weak defense), Chikarita, and Mudkip? I think your sets are fine, the most important aspect of having a team on Pokemon is balance. As long as the starters are nearly equal and have three evolution stages, I think it's fine. Well, at least it's nostalgic to have three stages. You don't need it, I mean Pikachu would be a great starter and it only has two stages. But as you stated, it should be a Pokemon that you can't find in the game.

so far they are pretty balenced (the options i mean) because

the more original idea has

Electricity ->water ->Ground ->Electricity

as

Fire ->Grass ->Water -> fire.

it's much easier to do also i have always thought of having some starters in the wild maybe even i can make it so you only start with an eevee what do you think?

Tip: When you catch rare pokemon, there is a way to catch them easy. Simply throw out a pokeball while switching pokemon. Keep switching pokemon as you throw pokeballs. I just wanted to say that, it's how I got Mewtwo.
