I don't know. I do the stuff to connect and as soon as it connects a pop up comes saying that I need an update in order to proceed and if I decline I'll be signed out of Xbox Live.

So nautrally I say 'yes' and a loading screen comes up but the loading bar never moves and then it says there was an error and to contact Xbox support, who were useless.

I've even tried to do this with the firewall off and it's just not happening. I'll have to try it again when I go over to England again for Uni. Stoopid Microsoft.

But when you open the box , can you hook it up and then go on xbox live?

I've registered and all several time. Also I noticed on the cover of my box there was suppose to be a wireless device..but it isn't with it. Darnation.

As far as I know, you have to buy the wireless adapter separately.

I'm looking at the box now and it says it's part of the package. This was one of the first editions. I'll probably have to get it, as there's no way of claiming it this late on.
They gave me the headset though...nice of them.

You're talking about the wireless adapter, right? When did you get your Xbox 360?

Edit: If by $40 you mean $20, you'd be correct.

Yes the adapter. It has a list of things on the side with the pictures and they all came with it except the wireless headset, unless I misplaced it but I doubt.
You're saying it's not suppose to be with any package??

Nah. I got my 360 about the same time as you, and it only mentions the wireless adapter in the 'sold separately' category. There's no mention of a wireless headset either.
