Halo 3 filled the disk. how do I know? They use 640p to upscale to 720p.
The avarge PS3 game is 12-16 gigs. Which, is uncompressed. Which is better. However MGS4 is said to be about 48gigs. So Blu-Ray will help out. Just not in the first year.

Comparing the games is hard though. Year one of the PS3 is always compared to year 2 of the 360. So it really is odd.

PS3 dev kits got a huge price cut now, and more dev tools are now out. So making games on the PS3 will start looking better. Look at MGS4's graphics... OR better year, Gran Turismo 5.


The 360, for its third year cicle so far has shown off NG2. Which, in its core. Looks just like NGS...

360 and PS3 do look the same at first... BUT when you consider the year cycle.

Both consoles are powerfull. And the 360 does have more flat out RAM. However due to the 7 core cluster of the Cell, the PS3 can match the 360. The reason I prefer PS3? Better first party devolpment.

I would like to add to LM's post by saying that the 1st level in the game Lair was 4 gigs which is pretty much a half a DVD-9. The demo to Killzone 2 is about 2.5 gigs.

Also, the reason that Uncompressed is better is simple. Uncompressed data loads smoother.

Personally, I don't even mind the loading times. Who cares if the PS3 loads a game for 4 seconds and the 360 loads it for 5.7 seconds. Duh, only very impatient gamers mind the loading times. Anyway, I'm not saying the PS3 is bad but comparing to their time of release the 360 still holds its own against the PS3.

Uncompressed data loads SMOOTHER. Not faster. They load about the same speed. By smoother, I mean, when you enter a room and you see everyone standing around without any textures which suddenly POP UP (Fable had a TERRIBLE problem with this) it's just odd. Can it be ignored? Easily. Is it appreciated? Not really.

Audio quality deteriorates and skips. On occasion it won't load at all.

I'm not saying it's a HUGE problem but it can be a tad annoying.

Plus, you can only compress data so far, each compression will have more drastic effects.

^ Oh, I thought you meant faster. Though I don't remember having problems like that on my 360. Usually everything is correct and good-looking. Anyway both are great consoles.

Both are decent consoles, the ONLY reason the 360 screwed up was they should have delayed it another 5-6 months and used HD-DVD as their gaming format. then they would have 512mb RAM, and 30gigs room for games.

The main thing the shows the PS3's Cell Cluster is... Heavenly Sword. The A.I breaking apart as they get closer. Controlling everything like that (Upto like 1,000 enemys at a time) was ground breaking.

Another game was Super Stardust HD. 10,000 moving objects on screen at once.

The 360 has good graphics. However it comes at the cost of a short story mode. Or multiple disks.

NG2 will have to run at 60fps and 1080p (Which it doesnt have HDMI) Which is either going to.
A. Make the game shorter
B. Lotta backtracking

Why? Because DVD9. HD-DVD as their gaming format would have helped them ALOT. What is next for them? Rumor has is that their next console will be unveiled at E309...

Yeah, they should have put HD-DVD. They released it way too earlier than it should have been released. However It has more popular (not better) games than PS3. I've never heard Havenly Sword or Super Stardust. The 360 has live which personally I never use because 1.Of the subscription 2. Is not even eligible in my country (no support)
I heard the 360 has some 3 years more life because they will release the next console on 2011 (I think I read it somewhere)

I disagree with saying the PS3 has better games then the 360 (AT THE MOMENT!!). And Honestly I don't see how anyone can even say that at this point in time. You can argue FFXIII and MGS4 but those games aren't even out and who knows if they'll be any good (though of course its most likely they will be xD)?. Sure, there are couple of awesome games like Uncharted and (maybe?) Rachet & Clank but 2 good games and a few decent games doesn't seem worth the price of the PS3. Unless you don't already own a 360 and you want a Blu-ray player the PS3 isn't really worth getting untill maybe mid 08' when the library starts expanding (or if you want to gimp out and get the cheaper 40gig -no backwards- compatibility ps3).

Also a quick lol @ LordMe saying anything about Heavenly Sword being ground-breaking. The game was mediocre at best and the "1,000 enemies on screen at once" was already done with launch games like Kameo. We have a while to go before we really start seeing what the Cell Processor can do.

HS's gamplay might not have been ground breaking but its engine was great.

Right now. I would NOT trade in my PS3 for a 360. Why? Warhawk. It is the BEST online game I have ever played.

In terms of graphics, they are pretty close. But I think the PS3 has an edge on the 360. The textures on the 360 look... Odd to me. Same with the X-box. Both the consoles have just looked a little strange. Fable had some weird lighting in it.

The 360 has no great games at all. It has this shooter, that shooter and the other shooter. All of which have way too much blood anyway. I know exactly which games you're reffering to. Halo 3, Gears of War and potentially Bioshock. It's the same 3 games every time. All 3 of which are just simple run and gun. Bioshock mixes it up a bit by giving special abililities but Disruptor for the PS1 did the same thing and wasn't NEARLY as gory.

Bioshock/Resistance: Fall of Man
Gears of War/Uncharted Drake's Fortune
Mass Effect/Ratchet and Clank

Heavenly Sword is amazing, Warhawk is amazing, Uncharted is Amazing. Ratchet and Clank is innovative as hell but not my kinda game. Resistance is okay but I don't care for shooters. It had some very fun and unique weapons to use. That's 4 games out now for the PS3 worth getting. And with MGS4, Socom Confrontation and HAZE on the way, PS3 has plenty of reason to buy it. Not to mention PSN is still up.

Mass Effect and R&C really aren't comparible. However, the 360 has shooters with aliens invading/battling Earth in abundance, the PS3 has too much Variety. XP

The 360 can't play the only XBox game I wanted it to anyway so the Backwards Compatability argument phases me not.
