Those Eminem versus in "Renegade" are overrated in my opinion. I thought Jay-Z was better then Slim on that track. Now that's funny cause I do think Eminem is an all around better rapper/lyricist then Jay-Z, but I can't get into the whole, "listen kids" and "parents suck" and "people hate me" theme of those versus. That's what I hate about 90% of the shit Eminem comes out with. Whether it's drugs or his stupid wife, it's just lame. "Just Don't Give A Fuck" is one of my favorites from him, where he's just spitting and he's nasty. Or his verse off the cut "The Anthem" on the Sway and King Tech: This or That(1999) album, classic.

In fact, lyrically Eminem has beaten Jay but in terms of relevance, Jay takes the cake and quite easily. Eminem was talking again and again of how the mainstream and the media perceive him and all that redundant stuff.

That for me killed Eminems two other verses on that track. That's one of Jay's dopest, but overall Eminem is a better rapper.

That's fairly and I do put the emphasis on ''fairly'' debatable. Some Jay-Z fans could make an excellent case as to why Jay-Z would be a better overall Emcee than Eminem. They're both in the same tier among all time greats which is probably the higher tier with the likes of Nas, KRS One, Rakim, 2Pac, Biggie etc.

In fact, from what I've seen of people's opinion, there are two high groups of Emcees, the legends and the all time greats. It isn't rare to see Eminem being putted in the All Time Greats category. Often, I see this:

I honestly don't listen to Jay-Z that much to tell you the truth, I know Reasonable Doubt is often considered is greatest efforts, but I have the feeling he was better later. Maybe I should ask some Jay-Z fans, but I'm 99% sure that some could send you something from Jay-Z that could easily be comparable to Eminem's greatest lines. I'm not a Jay-Z fan as I said, so, I'm not the one who'll do it.

He impresses me from time to time. Like I can't sit here typing like I've never liked or bumped a Jay-Z song before. But like, as a complete emcee, I don't like him. His flow turns me off, for some reason. I feel people overrate him. Like he's nice, especially when compared to the majority of hip-hop, but he's just not a name I would bring up in a conversation about hip-hop. Unless I was saying what I just wrote. lol.

It all comes down to personal opinion at the end of the day. We can all agree that some rappers are genius, and that others are garbage. But as far as who the best is, or even top 10 favorites, that will always be personal opinion. I still say hands down Eminem is a better rapper/lyricist then Jay-Z, he just didn't deliver on "Renegade" for me. But i do see what you're saying though.
