Why would he be angry in the slightest? You don't win an Oscar for playing Batman. It's incredible that Ledger is getting as much talk of an award as he is.

Also, it's not that Bale doesn't want a sidekick. It's the fact that everyone on the film crew as pretty much agreed that Robin doesn't really fit in. They might put Robin in a film, but he would likely be killed off really early in the game.

Because he's the lead actor and a small twinge of jealousy could be there, it's not impossible. How would you get an award for Joker either tbh.

If Robin doesn't fit in Huntress, Oracle or Spoiler would IMO. It's less bright and childish than Robin.

The new Joker hadn't been characterized in the new Batman universe. He's one of the most well known villains throughout comics, and without a special kind of performance from the actor playing Joker, The Dark Knight wouldn't have the same feel. It's a lot easier to get an Oscar by playing the bad guy. That's not to say getting an Oscar is easy, though.

It annoys me sometimes when people get Oscars that in comparison to previous Oscar 'loser's have not held up.
But different portrayals hold a different charm.
I don't know what his performance is like, but if this film ends up giving him an Oscar at all, even a nomination DC are going to be giving a big ol'd finger to Marvel.

Not going to see it until Monday though.

Hrmm... in regards to all this talk about Christian Bale, I think he was one of the better Batman's, tbh.

1. Michael Keaton (Batman, Batman Returns)
2. Christian Bale (Batman Begins, The Dark Knight) Note: Havn't seen Dark Knight yet ;]
3. Val Kilmer (Batman Forever)
4. George Clooney (Batman & Robin)

(3&4 are practially on the same level; Val Kilmer is higher cos Cloonly is ew)

The Dark Knight absolutely blew me away. I saw the Thursday midnight showing at my local theatre. The best superhero movie I've seen in recent years.

Thank god that the hype for this movie didn't outclass the actual quality. Definitely a must see for anyone because Ledger played the character just so damn well.

He played The Joker so that it seemed like he was a realistic psychopath, a fucked up person that could actually exist in real life. That in particular is what stunned me most about the movie. The story was pretty good as well, and also, we also see the rise and fall of another popular Batman villian.

I won't say which one for spoiler purposes.
