“Ho ho, Claire, hm?”

The voice echoed within the confines of he arena, lending a tone of perversion and interest to the already deafening chants of excitement, borderline impatient roars of the crowd, who clearly wished that the fight would just start already- an opinion voiced by more than a few members of it. However, the owner of this oblique comment did not appear; it almost seemed as though, at the last minute, cowardice had overcome him, and he had chose to back down, rather than face the fearsome claymore in battle…

Suddenly, on the opposing end of the arena, a bomb went off; not something destructive, or even particularly loud; however, the dark grey smoke it threw into the air was instantly eye-catching, encapsulating a small portion of the arena in dust, which hung unnaturally in the air.

“A beautiful name, for a beautiful woman;” that same, deep tone started once more, now clearly emanating from within the radius of the smoke bomb itself. Indeed, as he wind picked up once again, it peeled away the deception of the dust, revealing a figure who hadn’t been there before; a man who, judging by the mane of white hair which ran to his feet, seemed quite old, but who carried himself back straight an proudly; a man garbed in an odd crimson vest, open to reveal the dusty coloured robes beneath, and a pair o hands which bound in gauntlet-esque gloves, shieling the back, but leaving he palm bare; a man who rubbed his chin, whilst a certain grin and red, hand-shaped mark on his face old everyone why he was late.

In short, a pervert.

His teeth sparkled, as he turned his face towards the girl.
“Such a shame our first meeting has to be under these condition-“

Opening his eyes for the first time, Claire barely had time to seem them before they shrunk to tiny, pupil-less circles, their owner double-taking and jumping back, nearly out of the ring.
“This is a girl?!?” he mentally screamed to himself, as he observed her in mute horror.
“I knew I should have looked first, she’s not sexy--!!”

Still recoiling in fear, the elder ninja seemed incapable of even adopting so basic a stance as the one Claire had; in fact, if one could have seen how the twisted gears of his mind worked, they’d have realised he was focusing more on her lack of breasts than the fact she had drawn a sword.

A small part of him had died inside.

He slumped forwards with obvious depression, face obscured by the wild expanse of hair whilst his arms hung listlessly between his legs, a gloomy pall of purple mist seeming to form around him; he very definition of anime sadness.

“Why do I always get the masculine ones?” he complained bitterly reminiscing bak to the last time he had participated I such an event.

“Uh… sir?”
The announcers voice went unheeded, the weedy little man in the suit re-fixing his tie as he awaited a response.
“I gave up that bath house for this?”
“Mr Jiraiya? Sir?”
“At least Tsunade had a nice view… this is just depressing…”

Obviously attempting to hold in his frustration- not just at Jiraiya’s rudeness; failure to get this match underway would most likely be placed on him- the announcer tapped the ninja roughly on the shoulders, with enough force to gain a glance upwards by way of response. Coughing loudly, the nerdish looking man continued.

“We’re ready to start the match; are you prepared for this?”

“Am I…?”
“Ready.”

There was a low, almost gruff chortle, echoing from the back of Jiraiya’s throat; almost frog-like, one might say. Beginning as a low, barely audible sound, it suddenly exploded into the entire arena, its owner throwing his head back and tossing his hair carelessly to the wind as he did, hands placed heroically on his waist.

“Am I ready?” he repeated proudly, re-affixing a glare on the small man, and laughing one more, the very picture of confidence. “You obviously don’t know who I am…”

His legs drew back, and the noble ninja gave something of a hop, a dull thunk resounding throughout the stadium as he landed on a single foot, his knee drawn to his chest and his hand flayed towards Claire, as a gin plastered his expression.

“The Gallant Jiraiya, Lone Hermit of the Sanin! I’m always ready!”

Silence filled the stadium after this infectious proclamation, which infused the very air and taste of the stadium with new vitality and excitement to await the oncoming battle.

Needless to say, the announcer announced it’s beginning, before scurrying to ring-side. Left alone in the arena with this woman, he decided it beat to rough it out, keeping various nicknames about her to himself.

Instead, he grinned.
“Alright then missy, ladies first!”

OOC: As ya can guess, I don’t find Claire attractive, and since Jiraiya always seems to be spying at huge-breasted women in Konoha… >_>;;

OOC: Don't be sorry; I'm sorry for forcin' ya into making the first move with my last post... and, as I've said before, I know nothing of Claymore so.. apologising in advance for any... godmodding done by assumption of speed. I've heard that Claire aster than Jiraiya so.. goin' with that.

The girls sudden rush forwards seemed to have taken the elder ninja by surprise; the shimmer of the silver steel in the sun caused his eyes to widen, and furrow together, in a moment that existed for the eternal second between 'strike' and 'connection'. The next, his mouth shot across his face and his pupils dilated to near nothing as his sense of balance failed him. There was an awkward clod of wood against the tiled surface, and the somewhat amusing sight of the pervert swinging his arms and attepting to throw himself backwards to avoiding the rather sharp-looking edge of that sword. Instead, he tumbled fowards towards the girl instead.

'Of all the luck...!!' he cursed hotly as the blade approached, kicking the groud with his sandled feet, and sending another thunk resounding in the stadium as he pushed himself to the far right of the girl, dodging her claymore by the bredth of the hairs which fell to the arena floor. A more serious expression flashed across his expresion; his eyes narrowed and tightened in min-air, piering the female with a glare.

'So, my theory's right;' he mused, forming a rapid succession of handsigns.
'Her lack of sexiness is relative to her strength... no doubt she could have killed me, I just about got away...'
However, this was not what the rest of the arena heard; instead, they bwitnessed his landing, his bringing his hands near his mouth, and the echoing yell of "Katon: Gōkakyū no Jutsu", with the expulsion of a large fireball owards Claire.
'Meaning, I can't relax for this fight...'

OOC: Sorry for lateness; exams and stuff have ruined my timetable... I need to ask ya some stuf on MSN about Claire's general attributes(as in, regarding her speed, so I don't.. godmod and dodge someone at Itachi's level) so, if thats okay, I'll post after I ask ya that.. just sending this so it doens't look as if I'm.. neglecting this or delaying it.

The fire jutsu, having missed it's target, seemed to explode in a minature fireworks display casting sparks, ember and ash flinging harmlessly into the air; obviously a case of crowd protection in the validated case of Claire's dodging the technique; however, such a manuvre still left Jiraiya open to the sudde downwards slice from above, and it was with an expression of grit and surprise that the ninja hermit rapidly formed a set of habdsigns in counter-attack. Had the Caymore been aware of chakra, perhaps she could have sensed it buzzing in the air; instead, her blade merely sliced through a sudden puff of smoke, much like the one he had used upon entry, but in reverse; simply pu, tha he vanished instead of arriving, and instead, appeared at the far end of he arena, bent down on one knee, breathing deeply.

'I just about got that body flicker...' he reflected slowly, his chest moving in and out to the rhythmic breaths. 'I must be getting old...'

'Still, she's faster than I thought she'd be; to vanish like that, even before me...'
'Could she be with Akatsuki?'

Regardless of the grim thought hat had emerged within his mind, a slim smirk crossed the shinobi's features as he rose to his feet, the wind catching and tossing his hair as he did. With the same hopping acton as before, he leap into he air, clapping his hads together as his wooden sandle's interlocked fo a moment, lading wih his feet spread wide apart; it almost seemed as though he were about to perform another pose.

'In that case,' the writer afirme for himself, as a wave in the form of a dome expanded from him, reaching to the corners o the arena without harming so much as a sigle molecule within, 'this barrier jutsu should even things up a little...'

My Thoughts: Honestly, I don't exceptionally like either. The OoC comments annoyed me, also. Judging by the content itself, format was terrible on both ends. Using the same color for the whole post becomes annoying after awhile. Not spacing & being jumpy also becomes annoying. I also noticed more errors in Eragon's than I did Kazuma's. However, Kazuma's was short - Too short, in my opinion. I'm left undecided here.

Hiraki seemed like you were holding back or waiting for something. Eragon went for it in huge amounts of detail which secured a win to me. Eragon seemed to have easily surpass your suppressed writing style.
