Art Gallery Section Guidelines
MFG Forum FAQ and Rules
The Art Gallery is a community within a larger community. As such, the rules here are a bit more relaxed than what you would find in other areas of the forum, however the general forum rules still apply. To cover any rough spots, a few simple guidelines specific to the Art Gallery have been noted below. Read them and understand them. ---------- Article 1.0 - Art Gallery Specifics: 1.1 - Do NOT rip. Ripping is the literal equivalent to stealing in our community. This not only concerns this forum, but other forums as well. If you ever consider claiming another's work as your own, put yourself in their shoes. Nothing good will ever come from ripping. Ever. 1.2 - Warez? What warez? We don't want to see, hear or even detect the use of illegal pirating of art relating programs such as Adobe Photoshop or Paint Shop Pro. There are other ways to 1.3 - Your art goes in your thread. This is pretty simple. This way, things are nice and organized, and no one has to bitch and moan about who posted what where. 1.4 - Explain your opinion. Members love to have their work applauded, but they love it even more when they know what it is being applauded for. 1.5 - Avoid one sentence posts. We won't trot around the forum like Nazis, but we're not going to bother with warnings anymore. If we see any posts that consist of only 'lmao' or 'your very gud at art,' among other things, you will receive an infraction. 1.6 - Avoid numeric ratings. I've been logging on to MFG for quite awhile now, and I've seen my fair share of amazing pieces of work receive '7/10.' In an honest world, that may be fair, but I have also seen some pretty rough sketches rake in numerous '11/10' scores. My point is, these types of comments don't really hold a candle to what you could tell the artist with your words. If we start to see a bunch of these types of posts cropping up, we will issue warnings as a simple reminder. 1.7 - Name your threads appropriately. It's not fun to sort through thousands of different 'New Image' threads to find the right one. 1.8 - No nudity or hentai. This is common sense. If you have any doubt that what you are about to post may violate MFG's rules, don't post it. ---------- Article 2.0 - Signature Guidelines: 2.1 - File Size: The accumulative total of all signature images must not exceed that of 120KB in file size. You may NOT use Spoiler Tags to bypass this rule. 2.2 - Height: While having more than one image is allowed, if you choose to stack them one on top of the other, their total height most not be larger than 300 pixels. 2.3 - Width: Be considerate of users with smaller monitor resolutions. Do not put an image in your signature larger than 700 pixels in width. The goal is not to force side-scrolling while browsing MFG. ---------- Article 3.0 - Thread Prefixes: In order to keep the forums neat and organized, the MFG staff has decided to employ a prefix method for labeling threads. It is fairly simple to use, and the prefixes are mandatory here in the art section of the forums. To keep everyone on the same page, here are a few examples of what would fall under each prefix category. - Small Piece: --- Avatars --- Sprites (individual or sheets) --- Tags/Signatures - Large Piece: --- Splashes --- Wallpapers - Traditional: --- Drawings/Sketches - Other: --- Any odd topics that may not be covered in the other prefixes ---------- If you have any questions regarding this set of rules please feel free to PM either Teecee or Raven, the Art Gallery Moderators. |
