Do you guys judge on basic aesthetics, or srs photoshop skillz?

When I vote, I base my vote on creativity, typography, coloration, and integration of the foreground with the background (the last one is essential), basically how well everything blends together. The better something flows together the more natural it is and vice versa. This is crucial with art as when something stands out too much it never seems to be a good thing unless it's intended.

The way voting works here, anyone at all can vote and asides from not favouring friends, voting against people you don't like, there aren't exactly any rules, and even those are pretty much unspoken rules.

There's no specific rating system so it's basically a "to each their own reasons" situation. I've only voted once, and I explained my picks, which one one else did. Basically, just make what you can, and do your all to make it look good. I mean, a lot of times people who know how to use photoshop well will often make something that looks better, so the two are kind of connected. At the same time, if you take a really aesthetically pleasing picture, and add just add text it might not be received too well by everyone.
