Local Hangout: Northern Wilderness

[Lazlo]

A large valley located within the Northern Wilderness. Large snowcapped mountains flank it as it runs directly to a large cliff face that drops off into the sea below. Many small ecosystems exist within it and the surrounding area. It is seen by many as an excellent place to train and battle. However, it does have a darker said. A demon is said to haunt the woods, manifesting itself as whatever a traveller may fear most. Few dare to enter these woods because few return alive. Fewer still return with their sanity.

Along the lonely dirt path trod a single unfortunate soul, his right hand clutched over his left tricep. He walked with a limp, panting heavily, his eyes glazed over with a milky appearance that betrayed almost total blindness. This man bore long, raven hair, tied in a ponytail with two long bangs drooping down the sides of his head. Over his forehead was worn the headband of Konoha village, its symbol marred by a clear cut through the middle- an obvious statement of his alliance, or lack thereof, one might assume at a glance. Dragging his feet with great deliberation, his breathing growing ever-more strained, the man finally collapsed to his hands and knees from exhaustion, clutching his heart with his right hand. There was a cough. He couldn't see it, but a red stain glistened in the dirt under him. This broken man was none other than Uchiha Itachi, once reputed to be the best of warriors, now reduced to a mobile corpse whose will-powered steps had also brought him far beyond his limits. He stared blankly at the ground, weak, his whole world a dark blur. Sweat and blood mingled on the ground beneath him, and with a trembling body, he managed to raise himself ever so slightly. His dead eyes were fixed down the path, and what they searched for, was impossible to tell. His mouth hung ajar for a moment, and then, ignoring the pain in his dry throat, he uttered a single word...

"...Sasuke..."

Suji caught sight of this pitiful sight. A sadistic grin appeared across his snow white face. He walked across the dirt road to the wretched being that had once been feared as one of the greatest warriors of all time. He knelt down to level himself with the dying man.

"Heh, 'Sasuke' you say? Whoever the hell that is your definitely not going to see him any time soon." He spoke fiendishly. "Hell, I'd be surpised if you last another hour." He chuckled, obviously amused by this man's plight.

Itachi raised his weak, trembling head to meet the man's gaze. In his condition, it didn't seem like he was in any shape to reply, much less do anything to correct Suji's attitude problem. However, when he locked eyes with the arrogant tresspasser, it became a different story completely. All at once, there was a loud boom, and the whole world seemed to shake. In those pale, dying eyes burned a small flame that refused to go out. His stare, even as pathetic as the rest of his appearance may have been, would have driven most men to their knees.

"Be gone from my sight." he hissed in a deep, commanding tone.

For as far as the eye could see, there was virtually nothing but trees. The mountains stood tall in the background. In the sky, there were puffy clouds dancing across a calm sky. In the near distance, the rivers flowed through the woods and into a swamp-like region in the heart of the landscape. Birds chirped, crickets screeched, and the sound of nature was nearly impossible to drown out. However, another noise began to grow. It was the constant pounding sound of a walking stick, followed by faint footsteps. A being was in the near distance. It was the presence of a single entity, no more, “Ho ho? I see a young man bleeding on my grounds? What is the meaning of such tom foolery?” the crackled, yet booming voice of an old man erupted from an unknown, yet close location.

Itachi's ears perked up at the sound of the second man's voice. It was recognizeable to him, strangely. As best he could, he turned and glanced over his shoulder, spotting a blurry shadow approaching from the distance.

"Who are you?" he asked almost indifferently, taking care not to forget the other man before him.

[Kurushimi]

Suji, obviously not phased by the man's threats, laughed hysterically.

"Still got a little fight in ya, I see" He said still smiling. He rose from his kneeling position and looked down upon the dying man.

"Don't worry" He said as a sadistic smile crept across his face. "I can fix that nice and easy."

"I am giving you a warning..." Itachi muttered with noticeable vexation, "Even as I am now, if you come at me, I will kill you..."

His tone didn't change, his eyes didn't blink, his body didn't flinch- not even for an instant. He remained rigid and unwavering, even though his corporeal self was nigh to giving out on him. Yet there remained an eerie feeling of substance in those threats of his...

The trees raddled. Leaves, followed by branches, fell from above and snapped against the ground. In the near distance, the dispersing of energy could be sensed. The approaching figure was no more. Instead, an elderly sage fell from above and collapsed to one knee beside the Uchiha. He bore a ragged, stained headpiece which hid his face his darkness. It resembled a hood which was firmly folded around his neck at its end. The rest of his uniform was mono. It was a simple onyx robe with stitches and patches of different shades of gray. Then, in calm, collected voice, the elder spoke, “To kill on these hallowed grounds, what kind of men are you? Enough with these shenanigans!”

As fast as he could, the Saiyan youth tore through the trees, scattering leaves and branches. He had discovered, by looking at it from his campgrounds, a perfect spot to just hang around and relax. Of course, his head was always in the clouds, so he had some trouble not hitting the trees head-on. Finally, he decided to just walk normally.

"This place is huge," he commented, not even seeming to care about scenery. He then looked around. "Aw man, I think I'm lost..."

Suji turned his attention to the old man who had appeared.

"Relax man, I never even touched the guy." He said. "Judging from his attitude he probably got in a little over his head"

He turned his attention back to Itachi. He stared at him in a strange way, as if contemplating what he could do to completely break the man's spirit.

"You've got a lot of guts, kid. I'll give you that." He said. He turned around and began to walk away from the falen warrior "...Whatever. While it'd be fun to crush that ego of yours" he said and turned to Velox, "It's really not worth the effort." He walked down the dirt road leaving the two warriors behind.

Suji solicited no attention from the broken warrior as he walked off, delivering the final insult. Rather, this was understood to be preferable to actually having to confront him. Instead, the injured shinobi leaned in the direction of the old sage.

"Would you...be kind enough to give me food, water, and shelter?" Itachi asked, bowing his head low in reverence, "It's been days since I've had any of the three."

The Uchiha stared forlornely at his hands as they clutched the dirt. He could not see them. He wanted to scream out in frustration, but his body wouldn't let him. All he could do was wait for an answer, and do his best not to pass out.

As quickly as he realized he was lost in the wilderness, the youthful Saiyan with a teal gi and a blue headband suddenly realized he was not alone. He could hear voices, at least three of them. Without a second thought he raced towards the voices, although not without nearly tripping over a few roots along the way.

Eventually, after stumbling out of the heavy wooded area, he came across the scene. There was a red blood trail... either a wounded animal trod through here....

Or, a wounded person... He decided to follow the trail, until he saw people. One appeared to be injured, one was casually walking away, and the other could not be assessed. However, Corey couldn't resist seeing how things played out before drawing any conclusions as to what happened. He stood rigid in the path, just pretending to be non-chalant.

“Very well,” Velox answered before glancing into the sky. He muttered a series of enchantments and then raised his right hand above him. When his sleeve fell, it revealed a series of glowing tattoos against his scrawny, under-nourished vessel. Meanwhile, the flapping of wings grew closer. With it, the air vibrated and the wind began to grow. A shadow circled from above, “Fuhennori, we are here, and I’ve brought an injured youth!” It was none other than the sage’s personal summon. It was a massive, owl-like spirit known as Fuhennori. It appeared to be a great horned owl with a saddle. It also held a pale, emotionless mask over its face and beak – one that would commonly be seen in ancient Japanese plays.

Ooc – Velox cannot fly, and therefore has a summon known as Fuhennori.

Upon seeing the summon, whatever its name was, Corey thought:

Wow, that's huge!

This event suddenly made Corey remember something. He flew to a ledge that overlooked a watery area. He knew the dive would be deadly for most, but he was stronger, and would likely only come out of it with only a red chest. He leaned forward, slowly, until he fell off the cliff, and into the sea below.
