Multiple Characters

The question has been on my mind lately.

Members may post here and express whether they are in favor of the idea or against it. Then myself, Island, and Lazlo can discuss the issue based on the feedback we get from this topic.

I'm always game for multiple characters.

Personally, I think they should be allowed after this first saga, so that the active members' first characters are already a good deal ahead of the new characters.

I already have a second character to use if we can have one...with items to create. XD

Anyways, yeah, I'm for it. As Kei said, members who already have it are far enough along that a second character would still be behind. Plus, since there's not really anyone new joining at the moment it would allow the RPG to be tested on whether it actually would allow a low level character to catch up with a high level character.

Multiple characters are great and everything, but you'd have to keep track of them. And by you, I mean the RPG Team, the other players, and the creator of the player. I was on another board that allowed multiple characters, and you had to put various characters under different colored text to distinguish the multiple characters. But in that case, there were five or six forums that you could post on, so there was plenty of room to play around in.

So I would say yes, but only if the players are willing to do some extra stuff... like put a line in their sig saying which character goes with which colored text (or whatever). Otherwise, I'd say that it would complicate things too much.

Either that or give them a limited amount of stamina to use for both players... That idea probably won't go over well, but it's an idea...

Last era, we were able to use multiple characters with a requirement of showing we were able to and when placed on the Sheets, it was pretty obvious who the second characters were. So, granted the mods just don't say "meh" and let us character whore (which they won't) and only allow a second, things should be fine.

Hey, as long as it's clear and it's done properly (and we don't have people attempting to spam the hell out of it), it sounds like a pretty good idea. That would probably suck though if both your characters got killed in a Saga...

It's worked in the past without problems, so I'm for it. However, I'd personally prefer there be a maximum of 2-3 characters per person, otherwise we might as well create entire armies to kill one other with.

No multiple characters. People are just going to gang-fight with their people. I mean srsly. And even if they don't, they'd be more inclined to help themselves. Why can't we have as much fun with one character than with two? I don't understand.

Vivi, that's just a mnatter of rules. Last era it was just noted that only one character could be used in a saga and unless agreed to, two characters couldn't fight in a battle. Plus, it'd be easy for a mod to just stop a person who is fighting with his character in order to level up.

It doesn't matter, that makes twice the amount of people to keep track of. Besides, why can't people be happy with one character? What does it show about today's youth that we can't just RP a character, we have to have more. Srsly. Bad idea.

There are three mods and about 10 active RPers (besides mods) if that. So, if that doubles, that's 20 mods. You think it'll be that hard to control? Even one mod would be able to keep track of only 20. As for bein' happy with one character, I like mine. However, there are some things I can't do with him that I could do with another character if allowed. Besides, it won't be mandatory to create two characters. It'd just be an option.

I say allow it. More variety is a good thing, isn't it? And like Pyro said, there's some things ya can do with certain chars which ya can't do with others... ya probably shouldn't be allowed anymore than two though, and there should be some kinda rules so ya can't work the system to your advantage, such as not being allowed to trade items between your individual characters not entering a battle with both etc.

Honestly, I would personally like a second char and I'm not that big on the fighting aspects of the RPG; having a second character would mean ya could RP different personalities expressions and so on, and it'd probably promote activity as well(twice as many haracters=twice as many topics to be able to post in?)

And about the gang rape thing, if someone was so... win-obsessed to pull that little stunt they could just get their second character removed, aye?

I strongly agree with the idea of multiple characters.

One character can become stale after a while and cause a person to be inactive for long periods of time due to writer's block. At the very least, two provides some differentiation to allow a person to expand the story they're working with and take multiple routes. If you don't want more than one character, fine- don't make one.

There will be no "gang-fighting"- you can't just jump a member who has one character and stomp him to death without his consent. Battles are ALWAYS a matter of choice, and as in my case, I willingly subjected myself to fighting one-against-two against two other members' characters.

I see no problem with the idea. It's just a little more work keeping up with the new characters and making sure everythings spic-n'-span.

I've been toying around with the idea myself, and though I do think it will happen it won't be an option for some time. There's still fixes that need to be made to the RPG and such and keeping track of multiple characters isn't as easy as it sounds.

That being said there will be some sort of stamina limit in place, such as you get one character's stamina for both or a maximum stamina cap.
