Monk: Monks are commonly seen running the Tenkaichi Budoukai. Others live in solitude - Where they may pray in peace. Common religions these men folow are Buddhism, Confucianism, & Daoism. The use of the word Kami also hints at the belief in Shinto. In battle, these sages have developed an inner focus - Thus becoming one with Chi. They fight with complete control over their spiritual energy. Therefore, Monks may unleash more devastating and destructive blasts in long-ranged combat. They may also manipulate Ki at close-range to pack a more powerful punch. However, because of the dedication to perfecting the mind, Monks lack in physical power. Most Martial Artists follow the teachings of their master, such as Master Roshi. They go through difficult training to strengthen the muscles and bringhonor to the school. Examples of Martial Arts Schools include the Turtle & Crane. Students from both schools wear the Japanese kanji for their school on a uniform, usually Gi. In addition, rivaling schools often compete in the Tenkaichi Budoukai against one another to compare efficiency through the pupil's progress. In battle, these Martial Artists use close-range combat through physical contact to win against opponents. However, it isn't to say Ki usage is uncommon. They include assassins, thieves, murderers, etc. Many Mercenaries seen in Dragonball/Z were hired into the Red Ribbon Army. They included figures such as Agent Purple, Mercenary Tao, and so on. Most of these fighters were rough folk, living rough lives, and doing rough jobs. In almost all situations, they are either the hunter or the hunted. In battle, Mercenaries rely on speed to throw in quick, almost invisible punches at an enemy. Some focus on striking specific pressure points to physically destroy the opponents body without exerting as much energy as Martial Artists. They can be either close or long-ranged, as well. Characters such as Agent Purple used throwing stars and other weaponry to stop his prey. On the other hand, that same character was adept at using a katana to fight. Long or close, it's apparent the majority of Mercenaries are skilled weapon users.
