Plans for a possible fiction - Should I? Basically, Reproda Lucidus is the setting and title of this fiction. Reproda Lucidus [Fiction] is based upon corruption, tragedy, warfare, and other key components that are our society for the past hundred years. Elements such as religion, imperialism, militarism, etc, are also expressed through individual characters or organizations. Now, explain the setting? To summarize the below passage, Reproda Lucidus is the largest city of the dimension in which the fiction is set. It exists parallel to ours in many aspects, such as technology, languages, etc, but exceeds or falls behind in others. However, the twist is, Reproda Lucidus is set in a universe of demonic folk, immortality, and magic. While the characters are Shounen-like in design, following many stereotypes, the plot takes a different turn. In the modern age, capitalism rises to power, while the central government slowly declines. Blown apart by debt, external conflict, and the increasing crime-rate, the city-state of Reproda Lucidus collapses. Corporate armies turn on one another. Religious cults rise to power. Havoc breaks loose on the streets as these forces battle to reclaim a fallen empire. Unlike most fiction, I plan to incorporate physical and political battles amongst the characters, along with a spice of dark fantasy, and lastly a hint of my pessimistic views on society. Below, you'll find brief explanations of some of the most important components of the fiction, with the exception of the main characters which I'm still developing.Reproda Lucidus [Fiction]: Read. Although some bits might seem useless, they all tie into the Plot when it begins. So, after reading this, should I?

An interesting concept. Controversial, too.
At this point, I'm willing to encourage any kind of activity for this section- it needs what it can get. BUT I will say this: Getting all political and philosophical, I may end up spamming your topic to oblivion by taking you off into tangents arguing some of these things. Also, I'd prefer if you saved this until after the test era was up and running.

Lol, I'd gladly accept any challenge you threw at me.
About Beta-Konoha, I should be working on my Character Sheets, as well as information, but I'm waiting for you to finish the basics. Once you do, we'll need to organize our data, and then I'll write up descriptions, explanations, and then transfer it to the Beta-Konoha board. When you get the Level System out of the way, we'll basically be done the essentials. Though, we'll still need some Jutsu, Clans, and items. If you handle the Level System and Jutsu, I can handle the plot village backgrounds, and then we can come together for Clans. About items, we just need to give Kei at list and he'll type it up. Though, this isn't too relevant. Point is, we have it pretty much planned out. I don't see why I can't get back into the fray with a Fiction on the side. [Btw, speaking of fictions, you owe us a bunch of One-Shots, Shinnin Akatsuki, and Born in Blood updates.]

Er, I agree, I need to update my works. But I've been investigating, and there's a chance that Papa Chang is still watching. I have nothing to hide, it's just...I'm one of those writers who is sensative about what he writes. Having someone watching me from the shadows...just doesn't go over well with me... ;>_> And it hinders my creativity and ability to construct good sentences.
Enough about that, though. Back on topic, one particular line caught my eye; something or other about capitalism "taking over". Sounds anti-capitalist, and coming from you in particular, that's strange. I mean, being that you've said "Island lives off of greed", and being that KakuJew is your favorite character and all... >_> And personally, I am quite the money-obsessed person. =/

Read it again. You read it wrong. I also believe you don't know what capitalism is. Capitalism is basically a free market. The government grants businessmen authority to control and run a monopoly of an inudstry. This is opposed to Communism in which the government runs every industry and only a handful of citizens are in power. In the case of Reproda Lucidus, it became as a society in which the central government was in complete control. I wouldn't call Reproda a communist society, rather a dictatorship in which a militaristic government which is in complete control of virtually everything. However, with a financial crisis, Reproda is forced to auction off branches of its system, gradually selling industry upon industry to freeholders. Effectively, it brings in funds to hopefully lighten the fall. However, Reproda lost the key factor which makes a communist state more efficient than a capitalist one. Communists own all industries. Therefore, a communist government can produce firearms, build fortresses, etc, without being hindered by dealing with businessmen of the respective industries. Instead, they order the works to build, the workers build, and the works get paid directly by the government. Think about it. I wouldn't say capitalism took over. Instead, you could call it a changed that was brought upon. If you follow anything I previously mentioned, the rise of capitalism creates a division amongst Reproda in a time where tensions are high.
[For the record, when I originally wrote this post, it was triple the length it is now. Lucky for you, my computer died.]

No, no, I know what capitalism is. "Capitalism takes over" just sounded like a Marxist thing to say, and coming from you of all people, it amused me, so I pointed it out. =P

I expected more from you.
About the characters, I have some designs in mind, as well as the individual members of Sakashima Messatsu. Sakashimi Messatsu is basically the Akatsuki of Reproda Lucidus, just far better. I have the member names, as well as the ranking system they hold. Background information on some of the more important members is finished. However, there is still the matter of descriptions. I have little clue what many of them look like, but once that's finished, I'll be almost ready to begin. Then, I have to worry about the main cast. I have most of the support characters vividly designed. All I need is the main characters. The main main character is complete. Just need his band of friends.

In all honesty, Akatsuki lacks as a Shounen Organization. First of all, the individual members were far too powerful. At best, they should be able to par with Kage. However, members such as Orochimaru, Sasori, and Deidara have beaten down Kage without as much as a fatal wound. They laughed about it. For a ninja series, characters have too many abilities. Deidara can remove ten kilometers of land from the map. Itachi can torture you within your mind, and if you escape, you find out you were only in a Genjutsu of a Genjutsu while the actual Itachi is melting your flesh with heat hotter than the sun. In a series about ninja. Ninja. Shut up about your bias for one second and think about it. Akatsuki's concept worked, but the fact that they wreck the strongest of the strongest with little effort destroys them. The fact that they are Gods rather than ninja destroys them. No, it's just annoying.

Because they take the ninja shit and kick it in the vagina. They prove that a ninja manga doesn't have to live up to the accepted ninja archetype. There is nothing wrong with Akatsuki, with the exceptions of Konan and Pein, who in all fairness, have not been adequately explored yet.

[off-topic]: The sheer existence of Pein dramatically reduces the winfulness of the Akatsuki as a whole.
[on-topic]: Is Velox going to be related to this story at all, Island?
