Yes, you were totally tricked. No, it's not the revival of Chronicles yet. That will come, soon enough. It's something related. Read on.
========================================= Instructions: Hmm, alright. If you've heard of MUD games, that will probably make explanations much easier. If you haven't... well, read on. This is more of a game than a story. If you want to, visualize the basis of Pokemon games, then imagine it with text instead of 2d graphics. You begin by creating a character. Then, you find yourself in the starting location. In that location, you can do a number of things, depending on where you are. You are able to visit buildings, talk to people etc. All these will be represented by options, which I will give to you in each of my posts. All you have to do is post the option you want, and I will write a small sequence with your character doing what you told him to do and the results. Eventually, your character develops as the story progresses and the plot unravels, and more and more stuff become available. In each situation, there will be three categories of options: the first is the Area Options, which refer to actions you can take in the specific place you are in. The second is the Exit Options, which allow you to move from your current area to a different one. There will almost always be at least one Exit Option to allow you to proceed, unless you have to do something specific in the area you are in (example, you are trapped in a cave and you need to place some explosives on the wall). The third category is the Standard Options. These allow you to use your items, change your equipment, check your stats etc. Like in most similar games, it is recommended that you exhaust your Area Options before you move to a different area, or you may miss important things. In each post you can only do one Area or Exit Option, but you can choose multiple Standard Options along with these. In battle, you can choose between Attack, which will let you attack the opponent with your current weapon, Equip, which will let you change your current equipment, Item which will let you use an item, Spells & Abilities, which will allow you to deploy spells and special abilities, and Run Away, which will attempt to run away. You can only do one thing per post. More on battles later. So how is this played? Easy. Even though this kind of game is single-player, here as many people as they want can play. Any person can make a post deciding what the character will do next, on a first-come first-serve basis per option. But if many people complain about the choices of one member, that member may be excluded from the game. Anyway, I've explained enough. It is pretty much self-explanatory, so you could do even without reading the above, but now you should have a clear picture of the thing, at least. Anything else neccessary will be revealed in the progress of the game, possibly In-Character as well. And at any rate, if you have any questions about what to do etc, don't hesitate to ask. But, first things first. ========================================= The Plot: In a time of great wars and brave soldiers, where sword and sorcery rule the lands and dragons roam the skies, where valiant knights go to fight ogres and rescue beautiful princesses, our hero lives in a small, quaint village in the far South, away from all that, in a secluded, quiet place with his/her family. Words of uprisings, trouble, even open war in the North reach the ears of the villagers, but in a place where even the name of the capital city of the Realm is largely a mystery, noone seems to care much. But one day, on his 16th birthday, instead of the usual present our hero receives a letter from his/her uncle, a commander of the province's local militia currently stationed in Fort Viera to the north, urging him/her to hurry to his location, for he has something to give him. Intrigued, our hero considers the journey... ========================================= The World: The world is separated in five Realms - Arendia lies to the South, which is the Realm our protagonist resides in. Each Realm consists of several provinces. Arendia has five provinces, and Friya - again, where our hero stays - is to the Southwest. The village where the adventure starts is called Stromhylm. More of the world will be gradually revealed as our hero explores it, finds maps or people who talk about it etc. ========================================= So far, you will probably think this is your typical medieval fantasy setting. Well, no. As you will soon see it's more of an even-more-epically-proportioned Chronicles-like environment, with people from MFG randomly roaming around... lots of humoristic elements, both in the world as well as the characters and the plot themselves. But, I don't want to ruin the surprises. Anyway, in time, this will tie in with the Chronicles storyline (I have it all planned), hence the title. I won't say much because it'd be spoilerific, both for Chronicles and this story, but I promise it'll end up good. For now, it's time to select a name and gender for our character. It's on you, now. ========================================= Options: What is your name? >Insert your name Are you a boy or a girl? a) Dude b) Chick ========================================= Once you are done with this basic information, the story shall begin... remember, it's first-come first-serve (although I probably won't use something that is completely and utterly retarded), but you can still comment about stuff etc, even give ideas and suggestions for the plot if you want to or just express your opinions. When the time comes to put MFG characters into the picture, I may even ask those members to control their own characters. Well, anyway, 'nuff said. Let's get this started.

Aaaaaand... Punxx has the honor of making the first post, and choosing our protagonist's name. Sorry RP, maybe you'll get next option. Oh, and just to encourage variety, the same person cannot choose two options in a row... after he makes an option, he has to wait for another person to pick an option before he can do it again. This rule does not apply during battles.
Without further ado, a bit of a legend: In some of my posts, I'm going to put a sentence in blue. This means that the sentence contains a random hint that may help you with what you have to choose next, lead you to a side-quest etc. However, some of these hints are designed to make your life harder, so it's up to you whether to follow it or not. Area Options in red means that you have visited this particular place before, but areas you've visited may still have something useful for you to exploit. Exit Options in green depict the general direction you have to follow to reach the current Main Quest objective. Of course, exploring always pays off, compared to rushing directly to that objective. And now, some useful stuff about our character: ========================================= Profile: Name: Adamene Ponkes Gender: Male Age: 16 Class: None Sub-Class: None Level: 1 Experience: 0/15 Attributes: -Health: 15 -Mana: 10 Stats: -Strength: 5 -Agility: 5 -Intelligence: 5 [Help File] Shortly: Health depicts the amount of damage you can take before being knocked unconscious. Mana depicts the amount of energy you have available for spells and abilities (more of that later). Strength influences your life and the damage you can do and resist with melee weapons. Agility influences your speed (who goes first in battle) and the damage you can do with ranged weapons, and also increases your ability to evade and score criticals. Intelligence influences your mana and your ability to cast certain spells. The basic classes are three, Warrior, Archer and Wizard. Warriors favor strength, Wizards favor intelligence and Archers Agility. So think about what class you are going to be when you are given the chance, and advance your character respectively. The whole thing is pretty simple. The damage system is very basic, and you don't have to bother with it or anything else here. More on everything as we go on. ========================================= Log: Main Quest: -Fort Viera Your uncle, Dominic Ponkes, has requested your presence in Fort Viera, a few miles to the North. Secondary Quests: None Completed Quests: None [Help File] The Log keeps track of your quests and other important information. It will be often updated as you proceed, find clues, talk to people etc. ========================================= Backpack: Armor & Weapons: None Other Equipment: None Healing & Restoration: None Miscellaneous: None -10 Gold Quest Items: -Uncle Dominic's letter [Help File] The backpack contains items you've gathered. There's a limit to the amount of weapons and armor you can carry. You can open the backpack and examine the contents at any time during the story. You can also use any items you want directly. ========================================= Currently Equipped: Head: -- Torso: -- Legs: -- Feet: -- Arms: -- Hand 1: -- Hand 2: -- Miscellaneous 1: -- Miscellaneous 2: -- Miscellaneous 3: -- Miscellaneous 4: -- [Help File] Your currently equipped items. You're obviously not naked, but you could still use some pieces of armor etc. On your head you can put helmets and stuff, plate armor on the torso, leggings on the legs and gauntlets on the arms, boots on the feet and weapons / shields in the hands. Miscellaneous means rings, bracelets, pendants etc. ========================================= *sigh* that was a lot to write. Generally, upon receiving a new item you will get a brief explanation of what it does. You can open your backpack in the Options menu to review your items without having to search for the post you got the item, and also to change your equipment. You will receive a briefing of your character stats when you advance a level. Aaanyway... like I said, it's pretty basic, and you will rarely have to particularly bother with them. For now, into the main part - the game and the adventure begins! ========================================= Location: Stromhylm Village Province: Freiya Realm: Arendia Adamene was sitting on a bench in the village square. Next to him, the fountain produced the soothing sound of constantly falling water. His backpack was positioned in front of his feet, which were drawn up to his body. He seemed deep in thought, even as his eyes flickered to the sight of his familiar surroundings - the various picturesque buildings, built from wood and stone, the occasional passer-by glancing at him and waving a hand. Was he really going to leave? "I should probably read through uncle's letter again..." He murmured. ========================================= Area Options: -Visit the Bakery -Visit the Village Inn -Visit the Bookstore -Visit the Ponkes Residence -Visit the Item Store -Visit the Old Lady's House -Visit the Abandoned House -Wander around the Park Exit Options: -North: A rough, dirt-paved path leads to the north of the village. Standard Options: -Open Backpack -View Character Stats -Read Log ========================================= So there, you have it. Most parts of this post are only here to explain how this works, and are naturally not going to be there in future posts, so don't worry. As you can see, there are a lot of things to do in Stromhylm before moving to the north. Open Backpack shows you all the items you are holding (only the letter so far). You can immediately choose to use or equip an item (such as read the letter, for example) without any command. View Character Stats brings up your character stats (duh). Read Log reviews your quests. Any and all of the Standard Options can be chosen along with one Area or one Exit Option.

Adamene walked towards the Abandoned House. Memories filled him from his youth, when he and his friends used to be scared of the big bad ghosts haunting the place... he had never left Stromhylm, and truth be told, few had. It was a quiet, peaceful place, and while Adamane did not lack desire for adventure, he still cherished his life here. Sighing, he sat on a rock and let the recollections fill him...
"Hey..." He suddenly thought. "I remember when we played smugglers and treasure hunters in here... but we were too scared to go down the basement, and never got back any of the stuff that we accidentally dropped there." ========================================= Area Options: -Visit the Bakery -Visit the Village Inn -Visit the Bookstore -Visit the Ponkes Residence -Visit the Item Store -Visit the Old Lady's House - -Wander around the Park -Enter the Abandoned House and search for items Exit Options: -North: A rough, dirt-paved path leads to the north of the village. Standard Options: -Open Backpack -View Character Stats -Read Log

"Eh, what the hell. Should be fun. Besides, I don't think there really are any ghosts down there." Adamene chuckled, but he was slightly unnerved. The house had a reputation for being haunted for ages.
Slowly, the boy walked through the old, half-dismantled door into the hallway. The rotten wooden planks creaked beneath his feet as he carefully picked his way further in. He paused to peer at the stairway leading downstairs. Plenty of light shed through the gawking holes in the walls that passed for windows on the upper floor, but the basement had always been dark. He gulped silently, and started descending. Adamene nearly tripped over and fell the rest of the way down when a chirping sound, magnified by the echo in the old room, pierced the silence. He sighed very audibly with relief once the few shreds of light from the ground floor revealed a small rat rushing into the shadows. More alert, he reached the floor. If the upper floors could be considered old and ravaged, the basement was a blatant ruin. Broken wood and metal pipes lay everywhere, barely visible in the half-light. Adamene thought he should have brought a flashlight. But he knew the place he was looking for. Careful not to step on anything, he located the small gap in the ceiling that marked the spot where some of the stuff they had brought here used to drop through. Some rays of light reached from above. Adamene looked intently around. His nose wrinkled with disgust at the smell of some of the food that had been here - for several years - but he held his breath and kept searching. Amidst the splinters that were once a wine, by the smell, barrel, he found what he was looking for. A small, ivory figurine of an armored man holding a sword he had lost as a child, and the one thing he favored above all the items he had lost here. He had forgotten all about it until today. Smiling, he put the figurine into his pocket and prepared to turn back, when the glint of gold caught his eye. Frowning, he bent to the floor and picked up a single gold coin. It was too large compared to the currency used today, but after he blew off the dust there was not a hint of rust on it. He was certain that neither him nor one of his friends had ever lost something like this here. Regardless, he shrugged it off and pocketed the large coin, thinking it might be worth something in a goldsmith or somewhere else. He quickly walked back upstairs, breathing deeply the clear air that was a huge relief compared to the musty, rotten smell in the basement. "I wonder about that coin... maybe I should have someone examine it." Adamene thought. "But who in the village would know about such a thing?" ========================================= Item Found! Ivory Figurine Description: A sixteen-inch black figure of a man bearing armor and weaponry. Presumably it depicts a famous warrior, although Adamene has no idea who that could be. Adamene received this as a gift from his father when he returned from the army eight years ago. He told him it had some magical property, but he didn't know any details. Effect: Unknown Price: Unknown Item put in Miscellaneous category. Item Found! Mysterious Gold Coin Description: A golden coin found in the basement of the abandoned house. Much too large and heavy compared to the coins used today. On the front stands the shape of two crossed scimitars. On the back a large hawk is depicted. Its origins are completely unknown, but it might be worth something. Effect: Unknown Price: Unknown Item put in Miscellaneous category. Standard Options: -Open Backpack -View Character Stats -Read Log ========================================= Unidentified items are put in Miscellaneous, until you identify their properties (depending on the item, the methods may vary. More will be revealed as you stumble across them). Then, they are put in their proper place.

Humming slightly to himself, Adamene backtracked his steps towards his house. He should be getting packed soon. The small statue had established itself in his mind as his good-luck-charm, and he had left puzzling out the coin for later.
"Where have you been?" His mother frowned. Evelina Ponkes was a good-natured woman, but she could be strict at times. Her son's imminent departure had her on edge, and she could not talk him out of it. Personally, she thought it was a stupid errand, but her husband insisted that Adamene was old enough to decide whatever he wanted. "I packed you some food to take you up to the next city north." She handed him a package of food - by the size and weight, it seemed to contain far more than enough to take him to the next city and beyond, but he let it be as he slided it into his backpack. "I'm going to go check if I left something in my room." He said, already halfway up the stairs. He was already pretty sure he had taken everything with him, but as soon as he stepped through the door, he stumbled upon a brand new pair of walking shoes. His old pair wasn't half-bad, but they had withered with time and were not as comfortable any more. "Mom, did you get these boots?" He shouted, and his mother confirmed it. "Well, thanks a lot. I'm going to need them in my trip." He waved her goodbye and walked outside, putting his new boots in his backpack. ========================================= Item Found! Food x5 Description: Food in a packet, great for a healthy and balanced diet. Contains a variety of different nurishments. Effect: Restores Health by 5. Price: 3 Gold Item put in Healing & Restoration category. Item Found! Journeyman's Boots Description: A pair of boots, easy on the feet and resistant to long trecks. The ideal for an aspiring traveller. Effect: Increases Agility by 1 when equipped. Price: 5 Gold Item put in Other Equipment category. [Help File] You now have a piece of Equipment. Just write that Adamene should equip items, and if applicable, the item will be equipped next post.
