Not necessarily. You see, looking at it critically, your favorites and what could be critically decided to be "the best" can be two different things.

You may enjoy Asteroids more than Call of Duty 4, but the latter would be critically superior.

Other than Dragonball, I have only started watching Anime recently...
I tend to watch anime one show at a time. So I began with GTO, followed by Death Note and I am currently watching Bleach.

Personally, I think that Dragonball was one of those shows that got worse as it went on... The Buu saga was just terrible! So therefore Dragonball isn't my favourite anime.

GTO, was my first 'real' anime. I picked it at random and I loved it from the start. What I love about GTO is, how it is non-fantasy! There is no unreal stuff in it. GTO gave me a differen't side to Anime and I liked it =)

I have just starting to watch Bleach (Since last Sunday) . I am currently up to episode 8. I have to say that I am loving every second of it!

But out of the four Animes, I would have to pick Death Note. Great characters, great plot. Each episode flowed and made me want to watch more. The sudden twists and turns always kept me on my toes =)
I'd recomend this to anyone! (Unless you are a slow reader Some of the subs appear really fast!)

Anyhow, thats my opinion.

My favorites would have to be Death Note, Samurai Champloo, Dragonball Z and Tenjou Tenge. I've still only barely tapped into anime, just recently started watching Bleach; there's still a whole bunch I haven't even touched yet.

I also have been reading more manga lately than actually watching anime. Naruto isn't on my list, it's totally overrated in my opinion. The characters and story is complex, but dry.

Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z are one of those series that you can always go back to regardless of how old you get. There's something in there for everyone, and just the Dragon World environment and characters truly allow an escape from reality.

Just the enjoyment factor makes me put it that high. There is also the fact that was the first manga series I read and it holds a special spot in my heart.

You could say that Call of Duty 4 is "critically superior" to Super Mario Bros /Super Mario Bros 3, Pac Man, or Tetris. Heck, you might as well say that about Call of Duty 4 and Pong.

Doesn't mean that it's true.

If you're looking at it in a set, unbiased, critical manner, it can be.

The graphics, interface, plot, and multilayer exceed that of Pong. Those are the unbiased facts. However, it's often how much we enjoy the actual games (Or Manga/Anime, etc.) that works how they get rated, since that's what's important and relevant to us. Personally, I don't care much for Call of Duty 4. I'd take Super Mario over it since I love that game for all the fun I have with it. Doesn't change that Call of Duty 4 is a better game when looking at the aspects of each and comparing them without letting my preference for Super Mario make the decision for me.

*No offense to Bleach and Naruto lovers but those series have just become really...sucky, for me. They have the same plot over and over again and well they should just kinda of cut it right now. If a really good manga/anime keeps going and going and going, they are going to run dry, like a well.

Think of Death Note, they cut it off at precisely the right time, before the idea went stale. FLCL cut the series off in only two volumes of the manga.DB/DBZ ran into some trouble, the first two 'Seasons' were great, it was getting really stale at the end, considering the series was supposed to end after the Freiza Saga but nonetheless it was ok. GT came along and ruined everything.
