L was smarter. Near only managed to win because of Mikami's mistake. L only lost because of Rem and the Task Force constantly hindering his investigation.

Actually, Eru was a little less intelligent than either Raitoru or Nearu. However, his all around skills put him above Nearu and about even with Raitoru. It can be assumed that if Raitoru didn't get Remuru's help to kill Watariru and Eru, he and Eru would have been at a stalemate for a good while longer. Raitoru had things hindering him as well, such as Misaru.

My point is, Near's investigation wasn't hindered by people who were emotionally attatched to Light and he STILL only survived because of Mikami's mistake.

Also, it's not as much of an annoyance to me anymore as I ignore the whole post now. It just makes you look stupid.
