I recommend it for everyone who've collected the cards and perhaps played Pokémon Red/Blue in the past.

The manga is completely based of the game and the first sets of the TCG.

Futhermore, unlike the anime. It actually follows the same "road" the player (from Red and Blue) takes in the game.

This will certainly give people that have played the game an nogstalgic kick. I wouldn't recomend it to people who havn't played the game, as it would be hard to get into.

I've liked Pokemon Special since the very first issue (Mysterious Mew) was released in the states, back in the late '90s, I think.

Here's a page with Rapidshare links for the whole manga. Note that the first nine (?) volumes are the VIZ versions, which are flipped and may or may not be toned down for kids (I only have the first three volumes in Japanese myself, but I didn't notice any changes). The character Green (Gary Oak) was changed to Blue in the VIZ version (because Pokemon Red and Green are Pokemon Red and Blue in America), and the female character Green is called Blue.

Also note that, unlike the anime, the manga changes protagonists with every new generation of games. Red is there for a few volumes, then a new girl named Yellow takes over for a while, then a badass mother fucker named Gold...

I like it how the manga is pretty much from a completely different world, when compared to the anime. I believe that Misty had almost always a pose showing off a part of her boobs in the manga.

Also, mentioning that Yellow is a reverse trap should not be done! Let the fuckers find it out themselves.

Well, the whole Misty-thing is probably in Dengeki Pikachu (Pikachu's adventure or the like in English?) I guess. But anyway, the manga is fuckyeswin compared to the anime. If staying on general level of manga, it is enjoyable. Repetitive to an extent, but at times very fun to read.

I honestly don't care much for anime versus topics, I also don't care if people like them, in the long run most of them are pretty retarded and the only good ones have already been done before. Just enjoy a series for what it is, instead of being "MY CHARACTER IS MUCH STRONGER THAN YOURS."

The Pokemon Special manga is certainly very cool. I've read some of it, and have a few bits downloaded. I should really pick it up again once the semester's done with and I have some free time.

But my real goal is to find scanslations of the OTHER manga. The Dengeki Pikachu series. Viz's version is hard to find, and it was edited to all hell, anyway. It's a short series, you'd think somebody would have done some scanslating of the original Japanese one, but I can't seem to find it anywhere...
