This whole plot twist is pretty dumb and has ruined four years worth of chapters. Way to go Kishimoto, you're gonna have to work hard to get out of this one. Even if I do feel like Itachi has some how become a slightly better character it has still ruined everything that's been established since like... mid-way of Part I.

Itach was indeed an emotionless killer, we just learned how he became such a person, he killed his clan for a better good and on orders of Konoha, but couldn't kill his brother, and kept Sasuke in the dark to to pass on the name Uchiha to him. You make it sound a lot worse than it truly is.

Naruto would've been a great series... if it had stayed to missions and had plenty of variety offered in each one. Kishimoto has ruined his own creation, the thing he'll most likely be known most for.

Yes, Nikushimi, because we all know the strength of a character is vital to the plotline and pretty much determines whether the story will be weak and brittle or incredibly strong and flexible.

Essentially, Sasuke didn't have to overcome his problems. Oh no, circumstance took care of that for him. Sasuke's entire personality was based on events that never transpired, and thereby everything that took place as a result of his identity. Kishimito put a lot of work into establishing themes in different characters individual responses to circumstance, yet the circumstances behind characters of greatest importance to the series were just big misdirections. It feels empty now. The tension in Naruto and Sasuke's conflict doesn't reach a boiling point, it gets stretched thin and fizzles out. AND HUNDREDS OF CHAPTERS WERE DEVOTED TO THAT FIZZLE. It literally dissolved in conversation.
