Naruto arrives at the Ninja school three years early. He sucks and advances slowly. Sasuke arrives there during Naruto's third year, and is better. Naruto is jealous and throws shuriken at a tree after observing Sasuke doing it at school. No problems that I'm seein'.

Sasuke and Naruto are EIGHT when the shuriken-chucking happens. Sasuke graduates when he's twelve. We know for a fact he entered when he was seven. Naruto was there for about the same amount of time.

Too lazy. We know Sasuke entered at age seven. We see Naruto with him in his flashbacks, competing. Naruto apparently failed the graduation test three times, meaning he was in his fourth year when he graduated at age twelve. When speaking of Itachi, Sasuke mentions he graduated in his first year- not "one" year, "first" year. This implies that graduations are held yearly. This is also supported by the fact that each member of Team Gai is exactly one year older than any of the nine rookies.

Yep. So, if Naruto had been in this shindig for three more years than Sasuke, he would have gotten three legitimate chances to pass the final exam on time, and not early, before Sasuke and the rest stepped up to the plate.

Hmmm. I just read everything and i am confused as well. If naruto started three years before sasuke, then he would have been like 5 years old. Barely even able to form complete sentences. and do you get a chance to graduate every year because if you do then naruto would have failed it five times if he entered at age 8. If it was the final test that you have to pass in order to graduate then why did naruto tell neji that he failed as if he was kept back and had to stay three extra years.

AHHHHH, this just adds on to the naruto's suckage thats been going on lately. It seems as if kishimoto keeps going back on what he set in the begining... I can only pray it doesn't turn into dragonball z.

Kid's are learning to read at the age of 5, they are way past putting sentences together verbally. Naruto did'nt have any parents and it is already shown that there are no age restrictions on when you can join the academey, its basically for when you are ready.

The 3rd was obviously the one looking out for Naruto who was an orphan which is probably why he did'nt end up in root with Danzou, the third possibly put Naruto in the academey from a young age because he did'nt have anyone to teach him anything at all, whereas say Sasuke could learn to read and write from his mother and learn the basics of being a shinobi from Itachi and his father and then was put into the academey once he was ready and old enough no matter how much of a genius he was.

That means if Naruto was put into the academey at age 6 to learn more than being a shinobi and to also try and keep him out of trouble and not at 8 like the others and if the final exams are after 4 years then he would have failed at 10 and then failed at 11 and then failed at 12 and then he passed at 12 on his 4th try.
