Only 9 Genin graduated from Naruto's Class. If that's yearly, what kind of army did Konoha have? About how many Shinobi were registered? Likewise, how many per rank? This is before the Battle of Konoha. Afterward, wasn't it stated that Konoha lost half its military force? How low would those numbers be? What about Suna and Oto? Konoha was stated to be the most powerful of the Shinobi Countries, but by how much? How well did the combined forces of Suna and Oto compare?

Double-Post.
Lets assume I’m wrong. Per year, 27 Shinobi become Genin in Konoha. Now, lets assume that the average Shinobi is employed for 50 years, given that Shinobi such as Sandaime, Sannin, etc, are more than a match against most opponents. Multiply 27 times 50. That gives you Konoha’s maximum amount of Shinobi. That would indicate that Konoha has 1,350 Shinobi enlisted, at best. This isn’t including rogues and those who died in battle. After the Konoha Invasion, there were only 675 Shinobi left in Konoha? Now then, lets assume that the other 4 Villages have an equal amount of Shinobi, at best. That would indicate that there are roughly 6,750 Shinobi distributed amongst the 5 Countries, at very best. Yet again, this isn’t counting rogues or battle casualties. I even stretched the average career of a Shinobi from my initial 30 to 50. Something doesn’t seem right with those numbers. I mean, ancient armies had military forces in the 100,000s. Yet, the 5 Shinobi countries, together, don’t even have 1/10th of that? Tell me what I did wrong. Now.

Your calculations ignore the number of Shinobis Konoha already in its birth.
Before Konoha was established, it apparently was just a collection of tribes. (Senjuu, Uchiha, Hyuuga, etc.). The tribes, which may have already had thousands of Shinobi in them, decided to join together, for whatever reason, and form Konoha. So, when Konoha was established it would've already had many Shinobi to begin with. Though, 27 new Shinobi per year is indeed a rather small amount when compared to real armies.

Well...maybe they....hm.
You raise a good point. =/ Maybe the Naruto world is simply smaller than our own?

Island, your numbers sound right all things considered. But I believe the flaw is that in ancient times with armies of over 100,000 those are just regular soldiers not higher class Shinobi. I'm seeing it as though shinobi are the elite, the special forces. Those countries would still have a regular standing army and only call upon the villages for high ranking missions like assassinations and such. The ninja wars were mostly done in house for the different villages vying for power and were not necessarily contracted by the feudal lords.
That's how I see it anyways...

True but where there's smoke there's fire. There haven't been any non-ninja related conflicts in the story line so far. If we look at the scope of Naruto so far, the timeline minus the timeskip hasn't taken up a huge amount of time really. Even if there were a war going on there's no guarantee that the lords would necessarily need the ninja. And because wars are so expensive, spending even more resources on Ninja may not be the best use of their money.
Yes we haven't seen them, but since we have no proof either way, we can't say they aren't there.

The flaw to "Because we haven't seen them, there's no proof they don't exist" is that I could say Sasuke has a brain tumor and you couldn't prove me wrong because there's no evidence against it. D=

True, but that's the same for both sides of the argument. From what we've seen there's no mention of war and so no need to mention soldiers. And from the scope of things so far, unless an army was relatively close to a village they wouldn't run into them anyways. But I do concede to your point.

I have a resolution proving that there are indeed soldiers. The latest Naruto Anime I saw Naruto had gone to the land of the (Tea, maybe) for a mission with Neji and Tenten. There instead of Ninja they had Guardsmen or Soldiers.
When the assasins came out of the water to assassinate the fuedal lord Neji, Naruto, and TenTen sprang out of the bushes having a much faster reaction time and a lot stronger than regular soldiers.

Filler, I believe. The only non-ninja soldiers I remember were with Goto.
