Oh please, Itachi isn't stronger than Pein. If he was, don't you think he would've been elected as second-in-command of the Akatsuki. Plus, BH wouldn't be Tobi's assistant if she wasn't strong.

As much as I hate it, I have to agree with DBAF Killer... obviously Pein and Blue Hair are the strongest pair in the Akatsuki. Or at least that's what they think. Until Itachi reveals, that he is, in fact, jesus.

My order:

Tobi (Uchiha Madara)

Pein (Akatsuki Leader)

Unnamed (blue-haired member)

Uchiha Itachi

Akasuna no Sasori ~~ deceased

Hoshigaki Kisame

Deidara ~~ deceased

Orochimaru ~~ defected

Kakuzu ~~ deceased

Hidan ~~ incapacitated

The only one still unranked for me is Zetsu.

Itachi stated that no one but another Sharingan user could beat him. Sorry, but I hold that as cold-hard fact.

Pein and BH may be strong, but I doubt they're stronger than Itachi. And for whatever reason Tobi has them in on his plan, I don't think it's merely because of how powerful they are. I can see Itachi being more powerful, whereas Pein and BH act more as Tobi's arms, conducting the Akatsuki puppet play and keeping the others ignorant of the organization's true purpose.

Further evidence in my favor is that Tobi made a special point of warning Pein about Naruto taking out two of Kakuzu's hearts. Kakuzu isn't very far above Orochimaru's level, so for Tobi to have to warn Pein about a kid who basically cut him down from less than half his full power mean Pein probably isn't very far above Kisame or Sasori. I'd place blue-hair above Kisame maybe, but DEFINITELY not higher than Itachi. Pein would be close, but I still say Itachi is stronger.
