You don't understand. Sasuke didn't OWN Orochimaru. Orochimaru tried to possess Sasuke and Sasuke countered it with the Sharingan, at any rate, Orochimaru would have won if he was going for the kill, since CS2 Sasuke was weakened by his poison. So Orochimaru >= CS2 Sasuke, basically.
Itachi did OWN Orochimaru, and he did so 7 years ago. He OWNED him, without the Mangekyou, and probably even without going all out with the abse Sharingan. So Itachi (currently) >>> Orochimaru (healthy) >> Orochimaru (sick) >= CS2 Sasuke.
So Itachi >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> CS2 Sasuke. Period.

I was wondering... do people count the number of >,< signs they uses when making ridiculously over simplified (and generally wrong) comparisons? I hope there's some sort of formula you use, I could go for a good laugh.

But, if you really want to know, here goes:
IF the two persons had the same skills:
>= : the first person is essentially stronger, but a fight between the two depends 99% on circumstance.
> : the first person is rather stronger, but circumstance plays a large role.
>> : the first person wins, with rather ease.
>>> : the first person owns the second one.
anything above: rapefest.
Before laughing at others, you just might want to consider, how else would you depict the difference between two characters, if not by '>' symbols? And really, I believe the difference between Itachi and CS2 Sasuke currently is so big that it truly deserves the >>>>>>>>>>>> symbol. But, as I explained, anything above the '>>>' I use is just about the same: rapefest. Well of course I do. It is still ridiculous. I really don't care how you compare your characters as long at its legitimate. I want to know how you decide what gets nine greater than symbols vs seven symbols. I actually just dislike those sort of comparisons because they are either unnecessary (say comparing Itachi to Konohamaru no one can question or even quantify the superiority of Itachi to Konohamaru) or when they are used to 'justify' one character stronger than another ( say PTS Neji > TS Hinata and TS Neji > TS Sakura thus TS Sakura > TS Hinata, even though we haven't seen Hinata at all <- things like that bothers me).
