So at equal Power levels who would win? SSJ3 Goku only has a limited amount of time but he is faster, and has more experience but if Trunks can hold out Goku's Power will drain out. So who do you think wins?

Goku is faster and this is a huge advantage shown by the fight between Perfect Cell and SSJ Trunks Grade 3. And Trunks was STRONGER than Cell in that fight. In this fight they are the same strength but Goku is faster. Goku would win, he could destroy Trunks before his transformation runs out and even if he went down to SSJ2 he would still be faster and strong enough to destroy him.

The only reason to turn to SSJ-3 is to become more powerful than your opponent. If while using it, you merely equal your opponent, then you are screwed.

Yes, but Trunks is slow and that would allow Goku to get alot of good shots in and severly weaken Trunks. That's the debate here, I believe that Goku could get the job done in time. However if Trunks can out-last Goku then he'd win.

A Kamehameha would win it for Goku. Trunks probably wouldn't be fast enough to dodge if it's done at the right momment.

You've missed the point of this thread. Goku is faster than Trunks, but he has a time limit to finish the job in.

Also in this scenario, Trunks would demolish a SSJ2 Goku.

Yup. He's faster, more skilled, and has a whole bunch of techniques at his disposal.

There are a few things that need to be factored in though. Such as if this is "dead" SSJ3 Goku that we're talking about, in which case the strain on his body wouldn't be as great. Also, the OP failed to mention where this battle takes place. If this is in the other world, then he can hold SSJ3 longer than he can on Earth.

If all of these things are in favor of Goku (him being dead, the location etc.), then I can see Goku winning this match pretty easily.

Goku has no problem here. And the so-called "time limit" isn't going to be a factor. It isn't like Trunks can hold his massive transformation until the end of time, either. Who says he won't wear out?

Trunks will last much longer than Goku.

I was under the impression he could last more than 30 seconds, which is how long I think it would take him to win.

Goku actually stated in the ROSAT when he was using the SSJ 3rd Grade form, that it consumed alot of Power and the "regular" SSJ is the best.

Both forms are implied and stated that they create a burden on the longevity of holding the transformation, thus creating more stress on the body then needed.

The combination of power and speed gives SSJ3 Goku a clear advantage. It seems Trunks has more negative factors pointing to his brink rather then Goku.

It's never stated, but he used it for a few minutes against Cell, and then was not tired after powering down. Meanwhile Goku was exhausted after using SSJ3 for less than a minute(Both are estimated times, but are relative to each other)
