Tao was stated to be the most dangerous assassin of the RR Army, They didn't even want him at first because they thought he was a maniac. He wins this quite easily, he would just kill Android 8 with his tongue.

Android 8 is stronger than Goku of that time but not by that much. Plus Commander red probably figured that Goku beat Android 8 (Since all he knows is that Goku defeated the Muscle Tower) yet they still thought Tao could handle him. So I'd say Tao (But not with his Tounge).

Goku stated that #8 had a stronger punch. #8 was also able to withstand the Hyper Gun.

When exactly was that said, because I can't remember?

And about the gun part, Goku was shot in the back of the head, while #8 was shot in the leg I think. And Goku wasn't exactly in the best shape by then, having fought through the tower, using 2 kamehameha waves already, and I think he was getting hungry at that point.

Tao would wipe him out. Just because ONE punch he threw was stronger than Goku's normal punch, doesn't mean he's a better all-around fighter, by any stretch of the imagination. And Tao handled Goku (with all his skills, which is more than one punch) with ease. So, Tao would beat 8 as easily as he beat Goku.
