It depends on that. Goku would win if it's Pre-RoSaT due to his skill, while Gotenks would win Post-RoSaT because the difference would be too big for Goku to cover.

For some reason I'm getting SSJ3 Goku 1.05x stronger than SSJ Gotenks.

Goku's stronger than Gotenks and has better skills when it comes to battle.

Gotenks apparently doesnt have any advantages except of his potential power. He lacks both skills and common sense on the battlefield. He cocky, stupid and discovers names for his aatacks. Goku would eat him without ketchup.

How is it stated? I recall Goku saying that the fusion would be stronger in english translation. But how the hell could Goku estimate power of the fusion.

He saw the power of fusion with other beings, and said they went from being a wimp to a very powerful fighter. He knows two SSJ will create an even greater power then what he saw, which is why he stated it. Piccolo also seemed to be pretty impressed with SSJ Gotenks, and he didn't seem upset about their power.

And how can seeing the Metamorese fusing help? Goku isn't exactly a living scouter. he doesn't see numbers and multipliers. He compares others ki to his own or some that he already felt. It's impossible for him to tell how effective the fusion will be.

How is this a reference to multipliers? He saw other beings (who weren't Saiyans) perform the fusion, and noticed how they became extremely powerful after being so weak. Goku assumed when he said Gotenks will be stronger, but he's takin the fusion that he saw, and using that to establish the potential power of the SSJ combining.

That, or he just overrated them, but Piccolo's reaction doesn't say that, since Goku told him Gotenks would be stronger.

I know he said that but I think he didn't have any idea if Gotenks would grow to his expectations.

I would like to see everyone faces if Goku would say the opposite. Try to put yourself in his boots. He had to convince everyone that the boys have the potential to become guardians of the Earth. He couldn't admit that he doesn't have a clue how powerful really Gotenks would be.

Actually, I'd say that Gotenks wouldn't be strong enough, but that I would as a Super Sayajin 3, then I'd fly over there and destroy Majin Buu.
