Base Gotenks and SSJ Gotenks were clearly weaker than Shin Buu that's why when he was loosing at base, he transformed into SSJ, when he turned into SSJ, he gave all he got, only as an SSJ3 did he fool around. He saw what Buu's power was, he doesn't like to lose so he knew that to win he would have to completely go at full power. He would just have to pull out his most powerful technics from the beginning then Shin Buu would be history, it's not hard to imagine SSJ3 Gotenks being a good deal stronger than Shin Buu

The fact that Gotenks didn't start the fight at SSj3 was foolish enough. It was pride, not so much good confidence.

^^I think I agree with you, but what do you mean "pride and not confidence"? To Majuub, he fooled around the whole time. Gotenks was being ridiculous with his drama and theatrics. He didn't stop that until the fusion ended. To say that Gotenks was "a good deal stronger" than Buu is to overstate it a bit. It really wasn't that one-sided. They both took their beatings and kept going at each other. Gotenks' advantage over Buu is more subtle. It seemed to me like Buu, though he matched Gotenks blow for blow, was getting worn out from fighting at that intensity, while Gotenks showed no signs of slowing down until, of course, he lost it and fell apart.

By fool around I meant not going at full power. In his base form he tried all his stupid technics, in his SSJ form he pull out his most powerful technic, in SSJ3 form, instead of finish him off right away he rather got hit and then hit back.
No it wasn't that one sided since Gotenks was stupid, that was his first ''true'' battle, he knew what to do the next time he would face Buu, that's why he was SSJ3 right at the moment when Goten and Trunks fused, he wasn't going to try to hit at base or at his SSJ state because he knew what Buu's power was so he was going to get serious right from the begining, then the fight would be one sided. Since Gotenks is stronger than Shin Buu, he can easily dodge his attacks but he doesn't, if he was to fight him a second time, he wouldn't do the same mistakes again. That's why I'm saying he's a good deal stronger than Shin Buu.

Well we definitely agree that if Gotenks hadn't been absorbed, Buu wouldn't have survived. I just think it has more to do with Gotenks' experience than his strength. For me, his strength stayed the same (a little bit stronger than Buu) while is fighting experience increased greatly, which, in turn, greatly increased his chances of killing Buu. We're basically saying the same thing, though, so it's not really worth arguing about.

I meant that he had confidence in himself but he was extremely cocky and let his power go to his head most of the time. He was over-confident of himself, thinking he could actually take on Shin Buu while in his base form and SSj state. His common sense should tell him, "Okay, last time you fought Buu you got the cracker jacks knocked out of you. This time, he's combined himself into a much more powerful being. There's no telling how powerful he could actually be. Even though I trained in the RoSaT and have gotten stronger, SSj most likely won't be enough for this battle. It's safest to just get right to it. Super Saiyan 3." Yet he apparently ignores this.

@Majuub666 - SSj3 Gotenks is most likely a bit stronger than Shin Buu, but not enough for the fight to not go both ways.

Goku struggled against Kid Buu. Shin Buu is significantly stronger than Kid Buu, so figure out who wins from that.

Kid Buu was stronger than Super Buu. SSJ3 Goku was confident when he came to Earth after Gotenks fusion ran out inside of Super Buu, and said that Gohan and him didn't need fusion. Which pretty much means:
SSJ3 Goku > Super Buu (Piccolo Absorbed)

SSJ3 Goku struggled with Kid Buu so much, and in the end, Kid Buu still had millions or reserves left. Kid Buu's power is endless. People think just because Goku put up a fight against Kid Buu, Kid Buu is weak. It took the power of a Earth Spirit Bomb and the full power of Goku to defeat Kid Buu. That little dude may not be as strong as Super Buutenks or Super Buuhan, but he is the third strongest Buu.

You haven't read a thread on their strenght have you, Shin Buu is stronger than Chibi Buu and by far. I can tell you why if you want. In fact, Goku said Shin Buu was now weak enough for Gohan to take him, he didn't intend to fight him.
