I remember, that when I brought up the 'The Kamehamhea is dog piss compared to the kikoho' argument, people said it was never actually said.
I'd like to know what the official/jap manga says about this scene Also, where Roshi says that the attack uses up alot of energy usually at the cost of the users life. What does he say there? And finally, does Roshi say 'it has enormous potential for destruction' or 'enormous potential to push back an opponent'? 2/1 reps for jap/eng quote, +1 if you provide a scan for the english viz manga.

Here is the VIZ quote, be it any help to you:
(Page 178, Volume 11) Muten Roshi: The "Chi Cannon"... a move of enormous destructive force... many times more powerful than even a Kamehameha... its power is so colossal, in fact, that the drain on one's own energy is devastating... warriors have been known to die by using it... and even if one survives, one's life is shortened... that evil Tsuru-sen'nin... teaching him a move that should be never taught...

Cool, repped.
Hear that hero? Its many times more powerful than the kamehameha. But now we need to figure out if many times means something like x10 which is reasonable, or x10,000 which is ridiculous

"It's a technique with the potential for incredible destructive energy... Several times more than even the Kamehameha..."
Nothing about pushing back the opponent. Hakairyoku is a pretty straightforward word (destructive energy/power). ^.^
