Ok...what the hell?

This question has been bugging me since I first saw this part in DBZ. Why didn't Vegeta destroy earth after the Frieza Saga like he claimed he would over and over again in the Namek Saga(or at least kill all of Goku's friends). This is one of the things that kills the later half of DBZ for me, because it just makes no sense why Vegeta would suddenly turn a new leaf and just give up any plans of revenge.

His concern is Goku, not everyone else. And he knows he doesn't have a snowball's chance in hell of beating a Super Saiyan. So, it's in his best interest to wait until Goku gets back, and learn how to become a Super Saiyan himself before challenging him.

No, he said he would come back and kill them all, not just Goku. It was because of Gohan and Krillin that he lost.

Doubt it.

Unless you think Krillin or Gohan was stronger than Piccolo at the end of the Frieza Saga, they wouldn't be much of a challenge.

That was said before Goku became a Super Saiyan and "destroyed" Frieza. Killing Krillin and the other fleas while Goku is still away wouldn't help Vegeta, because Goku would simply kill him when he returns. Vegeta needs a non-aggressive Goku at this point.

Until Vegeta can become a Super Saiyan, it will do him no good to go on a rampage.

Useful in the same way PL: 30,000 warriors would be useful for Vegeta against 1st form Frieza.

He didn't know about SSJ until the Trunks Saga I thought.

Yes, you are right. The scene where he is revived and he sees SSJ Goku and Frieza fighting is filler, IIRC.

Useful in the same way PL:30,000 would be useful to help Vegeta beat 1st form Frieza if you don't think it was a bluff.

I happen to think it was one of those moments when the author is explaining the power of a character.

I'd say it's because, he just thought if Goku came back to find all his friends killed by him, he wouldn't have a chance but if he could even see Goku's Power once perhaps he could become a Super Saiyan and THEN kill everyone else including Goku.

Vegeta knew about SSJ when Gohan told Piccolo Goku transformed in the battle against Freeza. After that, Vegeta wanted to see the power for himself. It would be pointless for him to blow up the planet.

I've got Gohan at 1,750,000 at his highest, and Kuririn at 100,000.
