I agree with gad. I think Toriyama did draw the smoke coming out of Cell just to make it seem the attack was powerful enough to push Cell, meaning that the attack had a lot of chi put in it.
This is just pure speculation though.

Just like it was said, if you get pinched by a needle you feel pain, but you aren't damaged, you just felt pain. The body didn't get damage.

I don't know what you mean by 'pinched', do you mean poked?

Anyway, wikipedia defines pain as:

Pain, in the sense of physical pain,[1] is a typical sensory experience that may be described as the unpleasant awareness of a noxious stimulus or bodily harm. Individuals experience pain by various daily hurts and aches, and occasionally through more serious injuries or illnesses. For scientific and clinical purposes, pain is defined by the International Association for the Study of Pain (IASP) as "an unpleasant sensory and emotional experience associated with actual or potential tissue damage, or described in terms of such damage"

So yeah, the reason we feel pain is because we have taken damage to our body. Its as simple as that.

Tien's kikoho was far more impressive than Piccolo's fnal attempt to finish cell. That attack probably would have ended 17 or greatly damaged him.

Tien's neokikoho uses reserve ki so he pt in some surplus into it. ki desnt come from no where.

You see for example piccolo against radditz, after the battle his body had already let new ki flow out into his body from his stored ki (or life energy).

By putting reserve into an attack , you shorten your life span, that is if you empty your reserve life enrgy before it can sustain itslef or be recharged by other means, rest , food, sensu etc.

Piccolo did not use resaeve ki in his shot but used up all his active ki, kihoho uses the dangerous ability to awaken and transmit energy that is not ready to be used, Tien could hae put up two 5 years of life enrgy into that attack, that's one way I see it anyway.

As for it's effects on cell, yes it didnt greatly hurt or damage cell, but it did push him back everytime he used it and causes some type of marks to be left on his body. You can't ignore what akira was trying to show that it did cause cell some trouble, more than anyone would expect, given the fact how surprised the androids and cell are. Cell was ecen afraid of tien floating above him, took him by surprise.

SO scratches? Burns? scrap marks? dirt? bruises?

One of these, but they are all minimal damage, doenst mean it made cell cry or put his life in danger. NOT LIKE loosing an arm, but for cell even loosing his head isn;t a major concern.

It could've hurt a little bit, but just like when somebody pushes you. It is pain, but not real harm to your body.

Its small amounts of damage. Tell me, if you got pushed a thousand times in the same place in a short period of time it would eventually cause major damage would it not?

Pain =/= damage. I never said pushing me wouldn't damage me, it would just damage me a tiny bit. So if they pushed me 4-5 times, it wouldn't matter, but if they pushed me thousands of times it would hurt a little bit more.
That's not the case with Cell, because he was just hit with the Kikoho 4-5 times, IIRC.

Tien probably should have died doing all those kikoho's AT practically kills him off afterwards, i itnhk he forgets about him. Then oops I rmember tien is cool, i will make him diflect a ki blast from buu then kick knocked out because he doesn't hold light of a candle to super mystic ding dong vegito. :P
