You mean the professionals that translate "Vegeta's power is almost 30,000!" to "Vegeta's power just went past 20,000!"?

...Sorry, but I just had to say that.

(or maybe, "a saiyan's power multiplies 10X when we transform" to "a saiyan is most powerful in his ape form! A saiyan that still has its tail!")

Actually, in this particular case, Chibi is more reliable than Viz. Viz adapts the quotes for the North American audience, this the translation is heavily different from the original version. Still, the quotes say about the same thing all around but some can be interpreted differently with each version. Just to tell how Viz is reliable...they didn't even state that the Oozaru multiplier is 10x. Also, Viz recived much criticism from both fans and writers.

I can read the kanji so I know they screwed stuff up like Saibamen should be 1,200 exact, and Kamehameha is 924 exact.

And yet, I still trust them over any armchair translator on the internet. Kind of like how if you're going to trial and have to choose between F.Lee Bailey or some dude trying his first case to represent you, I'd go with Bailey.

Yeah, I have both the original Tankoban and the Kanzenban, so I know that's the case. If I remember correctly, Vegeta said something along the lines of "In this form, the power is increased to 10 times that of our human form" or something along that line. And let's not forget name changes, zoom-ins, editing of dialogue and content alike, dialogue altered to remove curses (case in point, the original print has 18 telling Vegeta "that was a half-assed blast" as opposed to the reprints having "That wasn't using your full power."), and some entirely left out. Pm me for some more.
