I would want it to end after the Cell Budoukai Arc. It was far, far better than the whole Buu Saga. That being said though, it should have ended at the Freeza Saga. Back when there was flow in the plot that made sense.

I like it the way it was, of course there are some plot holes but if vegito had killed Buu it would have great.
It would have been a better history if had ended on the freezer saga no doubt

Actually now that I think about it, it ending with Vegeta's explosion and/or Herucle converting Buu would have been good.

We could have gone with Gohan's unlocked potential storyline, as well as keep the Ssj2 form sacred, without having that really awful 'elder kai latent power, you are now stronger in base than Goku's max' plot device. >_>

Either the Freeza Arc or the Cell Arc.

If it ended with Freeza, the Prophecy is complete, and we have no more Super Saiyans, just Gohan looking to continue his father's legacy.

Had it ended with the Cell Arc, we have Gohan having succeeded his father and having unlocked his power in the form of SSJ2 (although it wouldn't be SSJ2; it'd be Gohan's own form).

People's general reasons.

Because it removed the support characters that made the original Dragonball come alive
Because it make a mockery of the Super Saiyan legend
Beause the story just seemed so rush
Because Akira gave into Goku fanboys

My reasons

Because Chibi Trunks and Goten were annoying
Because Gohan's Elder Kai power up was an awful plot device
Because Tien had like 1 second of fame, crap.
Krillin... with hair?
Overpowered.

I don't hate it, I just think Toriyama-sensei was really at the end of his string in the context of ideas. Another level of Super Saiyan? Fusion? Gohan's power being unlocked again? It just seemed like he threw it together to me.

Yup he redid some ideas and concepts but there was a different execution to it. I enjoyed Vegeta's role in the Buu saga, it was the first time I considered him to be one of the good guys.

Most henshin series, usually anime but sometimes live action sentais or toku, do tend to look towards 'new levels' or 'fusion' towards the end of their series.

It usually is because they run outta ideas.
