I remember, in the beginning of DBZ it was stated Gohan had an awful potential or something like that and when enraged he was even stronger than Goku, to add to that, Vegeta also said half saiyans were stronger than pure saiyans.

I never heard that Gohan had more potential than Goten and Trunks, in fact, I think it's quite the opposite, these two kids have MSSJ like power at like 8 years old and you think they won't surpass Gohan when they'll be about 20?? No one was remotely close to them at 8. Goku was in the double digits at 12 and they're 4years younger they're in the hundreds of million. You really think they can't get stronger than Gohan? It's not like we don't know the limits of Gohan power, much stronger than Shin Buu but a notch below Shin Buu(Gotenks absorbed) if the kids reach SSJ3(Well, they could reach it by their 16th birthday) they would be leaps and bounds ahead of Chou Gohan.

I've already addressed these points and the situations of Goten and Trunks' ascention into Super Saiyan are not known. They could have been from birth, the ability unlocked when they were concieved due to their fathers' already having attained the state.

Yes, this would give them an advantage; the advantage of time. Given time, and assuming that the growth of a Saiyan is without limit they could easily surpass Gohan's strength. But that is not the same as hidden potential and is something that is given from birth to all Saiyans. However, this opens the can of worms about the Saiyans supposed "unlimited potential". Goten's and Trunks' may have a boundary that they cannot pass and that boundary may be much lower than Gohan's strength.

Gohan was the only half saiyan I knew was scared to fight. No one ever said anything about Goten or Trunks. The half saiyans possesing more potential thing I always thought was only sai in the "Budokai" video game, but someone may correct me. I think that it is almost racist to say that one entire group is stronger than the other. I think each individual has a difference that decides his/her strength.
