Yes, which can be attributed to their Saiyan heritage. Granted, their growth exceeded someone like Gohan's, but their personalities and "fighting spirit" (=/) is radically different from Gohan's.

Key theme or not, it is never shown to be as dramatic as Gohan's. Their potential (whilst amazing) is never shown to be on the same tier as Gohan's. The evidence to whether they have a greater potential than their fathers' is inconclusive and incomplete.

The context of the statement is different. Mirai Trunks was never shown to have any hidden reserves on the level of Gohan and it's not like he lacked the opportunities to use them.

You cannot use them as accurate depictions for their entire race, so I think that any point that could have been made in this argument would be inaccurate.

If he is, well, Vegeta was not an MSSJ when Trunks was concieved. Which would disprove the inheritance thing.

Considering that Gohan, Goten, and Torunkusu make up the entire "race" of half Saiya-jin, half Human, then of course you can, and must use them as a depiction for said race.
