I hated that part, Bulma was a real idiot, after repairing him she should have told him what she did to him, and also during the scene she should have just whispered in Goku's or Vegeta's ear that the bomb wasn't in him, she has to shout it out in front of cell... That is like if she is standing next to someone that has a pistol pointed at someone with micro machine guns, and says "Uhh I accidentally took the bullets out, sorry."

That bomb was designed to take out Goku, yes?

Makes sense, therefore, that, for whatever reason, it'd be... exponentially stronger than #16 himself. It's the only way I can explain Cell being so terrified of the idea of it going off, so as to lose strength... that or he was afraid it might finish him off, and that by jarring #16 lose, he'd set it off, so to speak.

Though... if it was strong enough to wipe out Cell, doesn't that mean virtually anyone else without range was gonna die?

Yeah but Cell thought no one would beat him at the Cell games, and he has data on that as well, not to mention his own experiances with the Z Fighters.

Plus it improves the story. When in doubt, I go for whichever option makes the best story. A survived self destruct would be gay because it gets done again later on.

Cell's blast was supposed to take out the Earth. #16's wouldn't, I assume. And Cell survived his own, so...
