ASS and SS2 are 2 very different things. Nearly every saiyan in the Cell saga achieved ASS, and then the 1st 1 to reach SS2 was Gohan when he defeated Cell.

I know no explanation was given. We don't have any proof, we can only base ourselves from previous forms, if you need SSJ to reach SSJ2 then unless someone can prove otherwise, you need SSJ2 to reach SSJ3. It looks pretty simple just like that, but nothing suggests it doesn't work like that.

You're probably going to throw the ''Nothing suggests it works like that'' card. I can just reply, to make such an assumptions we based ourselves from previous forms, if you have an opinion, you must have a base. If you don't have one then it just makes your opinion worthless.

If I play the same game as you, I could just say ''Well, you just need to train for hours without sleeping in order to reach SSJ3'' can anyone prove me wrong? No but do I have proof that I'm right? No. If I had at least a base, maybe my opinion would hold some weight, but it's just a wild guess.

Yeah, I think I'm just arguing out of principle =/

Not many real DBZ fans get that confused...ASS is also known as SSgrade2 and has increased muscles, fallowed by SSgrade3 which has a lot of muscle and strength which sacrifices speed; SS2 has all the lightning and some more spiky-mean-looking hair.

They said Gohan ascended when he transformed, though. Vegeta & Trunks were stated to have "transcend" the SSJ level.

wow, really? ascended just means going higher, it doesn't make a difference. Gohan ascended past SS by going SS2 its not the same thing as ASS

I looked it up a long time ago, and the proper term is transcend, not ascend... which actually makes shit for sense. Usually, "trans" is a term used for an exchange (transaction, transfer, transvestite), which doesn't happen when you reach a higher level of Super Saiyan. You don't exchange anything. The example they used was "he transcended the throne".

Madness, JC was the one using dub terms.

There was never a form titled "Ascended Super Saiyan." In Japanese, all I remember them calling it was something like "The Super Saiyan above Super Saiyan."
