Well, after fighting Fat Buu for the first time, Goku told him to wait and a being stronger than him(Gotenks) would come to fight Buu. At that point, Goku had no idea Gotenks could go SSJ3, so he was refering to Gotenks highest form up to that point, bascally he was refering to SSJ Gotenks. Buy it or not. Personally I don't but it's a mather of interpretation.

May i add to that?

Goku states to Piccolo that he's not sure if he could've beaten fat buu as an ssj3. He states that Gotenks can certainly beat fat buu. This is prior to anyone planning to have Gotenks be an ssj3.

In volume 42 he said he could have beaten Fat Buu without a shade of doubt. The first statement has no bearing if it's contradicted.

Fine, don't buy stated fact. Furthermore, if Ssj Gotenkusu was anywhere lower than the level of power that Ssj3 Gokuu was emitting during his fight with Fat Buu, Pikkoro would have sensed it and mentioned it, along the lines of "Something's wrong! He's not as strong as he's supposed to be!"

Also, take into account that Gokuu suggests that he is capable of sensing Gotenkusu's Ssj battle power from Kaioushin-kai (because when the boys entered the Room of Spirit and Time, he comments that he can't sense their ki anymore), and according to Kaioushin-sama and Kibito, it takes a minimum of the battle power of an Ssj3 to be sensed from Kaioushin-kai.

I agree with everything you said but there is only one little thing.

Goku told Fat Buu: Somone stronger will come and fight you, correct?

Now, we all know Fat Buu can't sensed Ki, so obviously, for him, someone stronger than SSJ3 Goku is someone stronger than what SSJ3 Goku showed not his true power, we all know Goku didn't show anything near his true power to Fat Buu.

In my opinion, when Goku said ''Someone stronger than me'' it was for two reasons.

1. Obviously, he wouldn't say someone weaker because it wouldn't interest Fat Buuu.

2. Goku was comparing SSJ Gotenks power to the power he showed to Fat Buu, not the actual bulk of his power. He was probably aware that Fat Buu couldn't sense Ki so there would be no need to be refering to his true power.

Why would Goku be refering to his maximum power since no one knows it? It wouldn't give much of a clue of how strong Gotenks would be if you don't even know how strong Goku truly is.

Also, up to that point, Goku's true power wasn't known to the readers, so his maximum power up to that point was the power he showed to Fat Buu. No one, including the readers knew that Goku was actually stronger than Fat Buu. He stated he could have beaten Fat Buu without a shade of doubt and that was in the last volume, so, going by the author's logic and the readers logic, it's a final statement. The author knows Fat Buu's power and he knows Goku's power so why giving a fals information at the very end of the series?

If your notion of Goku's quote is a comparison to SSJ Gotenks and the SSJ3 power he showed against Majin Buu, then the same applies to Goku stating he could've trashed Majin Buu if he wanted to. Goku was referring to the Buu he fought, who could've been way more powerful then him if he went ot his maximum.

I stated why it wasn't the same thing. When Goku stated he was stronger than Fat Buu, it was in volume 42, at the very end of the series. At that point everything was explained and the author had no intention to go any further. It was pretty clear in his mind that Goku>Fat Buu. Don't forget he's the one who writes, so I don't see the use of giving a flawed information at the very end of the series when he has no intention of publishing additional material to mak anything clearer. In my mind his intention was just to tell the readers Goku>Fat Buu.

Also, I don't think Fat Buu could have beaten Goku. As Darkprince stated, it takes the minimum power of an SSJ3 to be sensed in the Kaioshin-Kai, when Fat Buu was completely enraged, his power wasn't felt.

No, it's just to prove that statements made in earlier volumes weren't always true. Goku says he wasn't sure if he could have beaten Fat Buu(even by not trying) and in volume 42 he's sure he could have beaten him. Piccolo is confident that Gotenks is strong enough to match Shin Buu, 3 seconds after he thinks Gotenks is doomed. Goku was confident Gotenks was strong enough to thrash Fat Buu and yet he didn't even know what Gotenks would be truly capable of and he knew even last what Fat Buu's full power was.
