Well the Power needed to be felt from the Otherworld would be SSJ3 Power as demonstrated in the Boo Saga. Plus Goku never commented on Super Perfect Cell's strength, he's Gohan's Dad and he will encourage him no matter what plus he knows Gohan has alot of potential, he merely told Gohan to believe in himself. He didn't know about Cell's Power.

I dunno, my fanslation has him saying things like "Gohan you can do it, your hidden power is far higher than his!"

When Goku spoke to Gohan, he specifically told him "He was holding back his power to prevent from blowing up the planet", or along those lines. Goku didn't make a reference to Cell, and he shouldn't have, either.

Could someone post the page up? Also, does Goku say(about Dabura)
"We fought a guy named Cell a while back, he's probably about as strong as him" or "I fought a guy named Cell a while back, he's probably about as strong as him" The other piece of logic, is story progression. Toriyama makes a GT style referance to a previous villain, in order to make a current villain seem more powerful. |

Yeah, but we know he's referring to any level of Cell above Semi or Imperfect. Like when Krillin mentioned that "Cell is stronger then Freeza", we know he's not talkin about Freeza's second form, or anything like that.

Well, you'd think that, but there is no proof for it. Sure Goku never saw Imperfect Cell, but he saw Semiperfect Cell and sensed his power, he also fought against Perfect Cell, and possibly sensed Super Perfect Cell when he was talking to Gohan

Goku sensed Imperfect Cell's power as well. No one really referred to Cell in any specific form, just Cell as Cell. Even if there no 100% he was referring to some level of Perfect Cell, it wouldn't be below that.
Goku even stated that "with our level of power now" he wouldn't be trouble like Cell was before.

Thats why I think it's a plot statement. Like when GT Goku said "Oh noes, Rildo is (???) stronger than Kid Buu"
When the Author either sucks ass(Toei), or is sick of the series(Toriyama), and so cannot make a villain seem dangerous, they just have something where someone says the villain is stronger than an older villain. A great example, is when Pikkon beat Cell and Frieza and whoever the fuck else crawled out of the Home for Infinite Losers. |
