Pretty much, but stronger than a SSJ3. He just suppresses his power so he isn't more powerful than a SSJ3 "all" the time.

Btw is it just me, or in Dragonball the less and less someone trains hard, the more powerful and popular they actually get?

Nope. It doesn't involve the SSJ forms at all. Just the max amount of power he can attain due to his potential. This leads me to think that you need potential to go SSJ and since Gohan attained the max he can from it, he lost his ability to go SSJ

Maybe he meant that it "acts" like if Gohan had a SSJ3 form, like a replacement for not actually having the SSJ3 transformation.

Yeah. I meant something along the same lines. You need potential to go SSJ. And since Gohan used it all up, he couldn't go further, and had to remain in base but still have the traits of SSJ3

I like the term Ultimate. Not only does it emphasis that Gohan has reached a stage far beyond a Super Saiyan, better than 'Super' or even 'Ultra' or 'Mega' (SSJ3 Goku was known as Mega Goku in Ultimate Battle 22), it emphasis that Gohan has in fact outclassed the others upon reaching a state of "Ultimate." Not only that, but "Ultimate" is supposedly the highest anyone can go, so it explains how Gohan's full potential has now been unlocked, and how he is literally fighting at his max.

I still think it's a bad plot device though.

Mystic is a horrible term, It just reminds me that it's a horrible plot device. At least with Ultimate I can pretend. Ultimate has far more meaning than Mystic.

Ultimate Gohan is definitely stronger than SSj3. DBGT made no sense at all since Gohan went SSj, even though he was at his maximum potential.

Chou means Ultimate though. I usually use Japanese names, such as Mirai instead of Future or Chou instead of Ultimate, to make it look like I know more. xD

Mystic Sux, because AF idiots posted a bunch of "New AF Transformations" on youtube, that went from SSJ1-10 Then Mystic SSJ up to MSSJ4. I think there was even Primal SSJ in there somewhere.
