30 years or 3 years before DBZ that Vegeta exploded?

This question has been bugging me. Why does Raditz say that it had been 3 yrs that Vegeta was 'hit by a comet', I'd say it was closer to 30 since Goku was a baby when Vegeta was destroyed. You can see it in the Bardock special and if thats not canon enough for you, it is proven in the Frieza saga when Frieza first meets Goku and sees a resemblence with him and Goku.

Maybe Raditz was decieved?

In Volume 10/26 Freiza says something like this after Gohan attacks him in his Third form: "Of Course..He is Saiyan! But whose Child is he? I eliminated every Saiyan except Vegeta, Nappa and Raditz 30 years ago or so I thought" It might be blooper but perhaps Raditz was recently found and Freiza told him the planet was destroyed 3 years ago.

It did say it in the manga, but I think some of those are errors.

I think he was talking about the "three years ago" statement, which was not in the manga.

The "30 years ago" statement by Freeza was, though. It's a rough estimation, really, if you want to believe that Planet Vegeta was destroyed the day Goku was sent to Earth (since Goku is about 25 at this point). The Japanese text says literally "around 30 years ago" anyway.

Well, if Freeza said it in the original, then I guess it's true. I just thought it was mistake that was similiar to Trunks believing Android #19 & Android #20 would attack.

30 years is pretty far off, Goku would be about 23 at the start of Z.

I really think he's closer to 25. First of all, a year had passed since the start of Z, so he'd at least be 24. But it really depends on whether he was 18 or 19 during the 23rd Budôkai.

I think I remember in volume 17 Raditz stating something like 3 or 4 years ago. I lost my volume 17 ages ago, so I can't be sure, but I vaguely remember it. Unless this was a translation error, which is possible.

I agree, it doesn't make any sense. The way I see it, it's actually a canon plothole. Raditz says one thing while Freeza says another, and both of them are way off from eachother.

Goku isn't even thirty when he became a Super Saiyan, which was stated to be about 30 years after Vegeta was destroyed.

Planet Vegeta was destroyed in 737 A.D., DBZ started in 761 A.D.(Radditz arrival was in october).

It's 24 years.
