Goku isn't an idiot. He told Piccolo he has to believe in the potential hidden in the young Saiyajins because of the possible future threats. He stated that they must be stronger because he will be dead and can't help when another threat appears. And he didn't have a clue that Gotenks would be so arrogant.

Did you read my previous posts? It isn't possible for him to tell how strong will the fusion be with just witnessing two Metamorese fusing. Unless you think that his Ki sensing is so perfect that he can mathematically compare the Metamorese and the kids, come up with fusion multiplier and state 100% sure that the kids would be able to defeat the enemy whose full power he didn't even witness. Please man.

And this perfect Ki sensing didn't even flinch when Super Buu was formed. Yeah right.

You don't have any statements. You have unclear dialogue, which isn't to be used as evidence.

The bottom line is, the general impression garnered is that SSJ Gotenks (which Goku would assume they could get) is stronger than SSJ3 Goku. He never takes this back and he never ever contradicts that statement.

Explain why Goku was terrified at the idea of having to fight Shin Boo without the potara fusion. He outright states both him and Vegeta would be killed by Shin Boo.
