Default Re: How can the Kaioken times three exist?

I don't see how it's broke.

If Goku uses the Kaioken technique then his skill and power is multiplied by a certain amount, this is represented by (X).

Goku + Kaioken 1 = Goku x (X).

To go Kaioken 2, Goku must increase this.

[Goku + Kaioken 1 = Goku x (X)] + Kaioken 1 = Goku + Kaioken 2 = Goku x (2X)

So for Kaioken 3, you don't double Kaioken 2, but you just increase it, thus.

[Goku + Kaioken 2 = Goku x (2X)] + Kaioken 1 = Goku + Kaioken 3 = Goku x (3X).

(EDIT - as Madness said, they could have been rounding the numbers off for simplicity's sake, but I would say that it's not the best guide for meticulous analyzations).

As for Kaio-ken x3, Kaio-ken x2 is just an opulent (or technical) name for run-in-the-mill Kaio-ken. So Kaio-ken x3 is just a technical name, at core.

Obviously they were going to round down to 8,000, instead of saying some random number like 8,350. Since the number "8,000" was the one used number specified in the manga, it's the most accurate thing they could have used, unless they asked Toriyama directly what the exact level was. But I doubt Toriyama would even have remembered the number in 1995, or if he ever thought of an number in the first place.

Of course, they could have just stated that his power level was "over 8,000" in that section, but they chose not to. I was simply pointing out that an official source agrees that Goku's base was 90,000 when he fought Ginyu. It wasn't entirely necessary, as the manga evidence alone proves that easily enough.
