Someone going the speed of light would travel the Earth 23 times in 23 seconds.

Gotenks said he travelled "a couple dozen times" and we see the paths he makes all around the Earth in one panel.

One panel. To travel around the Earth "a couple dozen times" would mean at least 24x. Assuming he made one revolution per second, that would mean he travelled 192,000 miles per second. He even told Piccolo that he was so bored waiting for him that he "took a nap". We know it doesn't exactly take Piccolo several minutes to fly down from Dende's look-out. Boo climbed it rather swiftly (although he obviously wasn't using his full-speed)

Toriyama said they were even faster than the speed of light towards the end of the series. Whether or not that interview is authentic doesn't really matter: The math speaks for itself. You can check Volume 24, because those are exact quotes of Gotenks.

Here's Chibi again, playing Devil's advocate. Those "Super Otaku Magazine" interviews have been proven to be fake. First of all, "Super Otaku Magazine" is a ridiculous name for a Japanese magazine, and it simply doesn't exist. If Daizenshuu EX's forum was up, I could show you a couple of the topics that have been done on it.

Now that we've got that out of the way, let's examine Gotenks's line in the original Japanese.



"chikyuu o nan shuu mawatta ue ni chotto hirune made shichatta yo"

Literally: "I circled the Earth an unknown number of times (as in, "so much that I lost count), and then took a short nap." You can't get the number of times he circled the planet from that. "A couple dozen times" was simply an adapted line.

While I'm at it, light can circle the Earth eight times in a second, not one time in a second, according to your calculations.

Radditz moving faster than light is a dub line.

As I understand it, if you move faster than light, times slows down for you. That could be construed as time travelling I guess.
