I believe that's an anime only quote that you're remembering, or you're just looking at the quote a different way than it was meant to be. I'm not quoting this word for word (since I forget exactly what he says), but when Kame-sen'nin describes the Kikoho as Tenshinhan is powering it up for the first time, he says that using it could kill him, or at the very least shorten his lifespan.

There is no exact statement pertaining to the Kikoho actually draining life force (and using that particular phrase to describe it)

Yup. There is a quote that says that the lifespan gets reduced if used too many times

Well, to me that indicates something seperate, since chi regenerates, and collapsing of exhausion isn't so much shortening your "lifespan" as such. I remain undecided as to whether therre's a seperate source of life than chi.

Ki can regenerate, but only to an extent. If too much ki is expelled at one time, there's going to be an irrepairable amount of damage inflicted to the body because of it. It'd be like giving more blood than the recommended safe amounts, if you give too much, you're going to be depriving your body of it, possibly for long enough periods of time that it's going to cause permanent damage.

What I meant, is that if used too many times without break, the user can die.
