I was just wondering if Goku constantly blowing off his family (especially Chi Chi) in order to train would be considered an impurity. That seems to me like it's a form of selfishness, no?

If that's the truth, then Goku is not pure of heart like we've all been led to believe.

That's the thing that I've always had a problem with when it came to Goku's character. It oddly seems like a "hump and dump" situation for Chi Chi, and semi deadbeat situation for Gohan and Goten.

Just some brain poop that I've been thinking about for a while...

It is selfishness on his part, but there is really nothing not pure about his decision for doing such. He usually trains for an hobby, or for preparation; so, he's still pure of heart while doing things like this.

Yea but we all know that's not true. Even though Goku is concerned about the Earth, his primary desire for training is to satisfy his desire to become stronger then what he is, with the task of protecting the Earth that naturally goes a long with it.

Well, his Saiyan traits won't allow him to just have a quiet life doing nothing. I guess it's just him not wanting to stay in the house all the time, or not wanting to hang with Chi-Chi, along with him staying on top with his power.

Vegeta's Saiyan traits didn't get in the way of him settling down after the Buu threat. Vegeta even stated when he became a Super Saiyan that the reason why he was "evil" was because he desired to nothing but to be stronger. That sounds oddly similar to Goku's situation....

That is true. Vegeta chilled out, while Goku trained for ten years, so I can see what you're saying. Goku might just be special when it comes to the continous training and what not. All of the Saiyans pretty much stopped training except for Goku. He probably needs some sort of excitement, unlike Vegeta, who can probably find interest in other things.

Even when the world was in danger, she only worried about Gohan studying and crap. I can see why he would rather train and be away form her whenever he can be. He did show that he could somewhat regular, like with the picnic during the days before the Cell Games.
