Chow Yun-Fat will star in 20th Century Fox's live-action adaptation of Dragonball, says The Hollywood Reporter.
Chow will play Master Roshi. He rounds out a cast that includes Justin Chatwin, James Marsters, Emmy Rossum and Jamie Chung.

Dragonball is shooting in Mexico City and Los Angeles.
The film, directed by James Wong, follows Goku (Chatwin), a warrior alien who protects the Earth from an endless stream of rogues bent on dominating the universe and controlling mystical objects known as Dragon Balls. Stephen Chow is producing.
Master Roshi is Goku's mentor, helping him achieve the highest state of fighting and spiritual powers.

Is he going to be Fat's original size or is he going to be hobbit small, like Master Roshi. I am really feeling that this film that i going to watch with my brohter, will be a huge failure like that Bulletproof Monk!!

Expecting to be a copy of the anime and the movie will disapoint many, but if you expect to see the adaptation of DB in live movie then it looks ok.

Reasons to see this movie:

The stunt 87 eleven, creator matrix and 300 fights.
Roshi vs Piccolo
Goku vs Piccolo
the Rise of Sheng long
Stephen Chow influence like kung fu hustler humour- action
James wong Emmy winner Writing in X files.
Special Efects Oscar Winner Ariel Shaw for "The nightmare before Cristhmas"
Emmy Rossum as Bulma

I am optimistic that the movie will do ok and i am not expecting a recreation, but an adaptation.

an if the movie sells they could do it again in the future like they are redoing Hulk an Batman again, but probably and hopefully more close to DB from Toriyama.

I personally think the tournament thing is bogus, if Piccolo is such a bad guy, why fight him in a tournament where he can hurt other people when they could gang up on him and beat him down?

I've thought of another thing also, is James Marsters playing Piccolo or voicing him? Because they could surely make him CG like Yoda in Star Wars, does that mean Piccolo, the demon master will look like a human, like he's hiding in disguise or something? Will he only turn "green" at the end, when he's like being pushed to the limit by Goku?

The Roshi guy doesn't look old enough... hrm.
I'm really anxious for an official announcement. I'm still not sure if these castings are real or not, because of their sources.
But yeah, they should make an official announcement.

Damn, I hate it when they try to make real movies from anime. First Its almost impossible to make a real movie based on DBZ. There are MANY elements that are difficult to make and I'm sure that even if they put the best actors, it would come out a disappointment and nothing dbz-like. Maybe it will come out good but personally I don't except much.

That thing doesn't make sense at all. Obviously Goku was meant to look asian, so does Chichi. They look to be the same race but an asian will play Chichi, but the guy who'll play Goku ain't even asian. He doesn't look like Goku AT ALL. That movie will be a total failure. I can sense it, you can't make a good movie out of such a crappy cast.

Jamie Chung is way to pretty to be Chichi.

He doesn't look like Goku at all. In fact, Gary Coleman and Billy Bob Thornton will be closer to look like Goku then he'll ever be.
