I don't know if this has been discussed before, but what do you guys think the outcome of the Piccolo vs 17 fight would've been if Cell had not have shown up? This probably should be in the versus section, but what do you guys think? In the anime after Android 17 said that he had infinite energy, Piccolo says that he wasn't perfect and that sooner or later he would make a mistake in the fight. In the manga however, after #17 said that Piccolo would eventually tire out, Cell immediately shows up. What do you guys think would've really happened if Cell didn't show up? Who would've been the victor?

17 would have won, just like he said. Piccolo's power would have kept dropping, while 17's wouldn't.

I place Piccolo a bit ahead of Android 17 in terms of sheer power, and so I would agree with Piccolo's statement of being able to destroy 17 if he slipped up at all. But if 17 kept up the fight at the same speed and precision, then Piccolo would have just tired out.

Depends really...

It's possible 17 could malfunction and make a mistake, but not likely since we've seen 17 take more abuse from Cell and didn't blatantly malfunction or anything. Piccolo was merely working mind games when he said he would outlast 17. Piccolo is equal to 17, so it only makes sense that he would tire out first because he's not a Cyborg. If Piccolo was counting on 17 to make a mistake, he probably woulda used the same technique he unleashed on Cell to finish off 17. But really, it's more probable that Piccolo would tire out first, although he has a knack for indomitability.

Piccolo would continue fighting and as he fights he gets tired, and weaker, where 17 does not and stays at his same strength, this make take a while though because Piccolo does not tire easily.

Piccolo would lose the battle and would die unless Tien uses his Tri Beam and kills 17, which would cause 18 to go crazy and kill Tien and a weakened Piccolo.
Unless Goku was to come and stop them.

Their are many different possibilities though.

Any advantage Piccolo had would probably have declined pungently as he couldn't maintain his slight but somewhat glancing advantage (as he comments #17's punch "isn't much"), where #17 has ever-infinite stamina. The difference, to me, though, is that #17 took Piccolo much more earnestly in tone than #18 took SS Vegeta, and displayed more damage. That #18 allowed her fight with Vegeta to be drawn out so drudgingly and for Vegeta's declining stamina to go to the notice of Piccolo is what compounds her reserved superiority in my eyes, where as #17 and Piccolo were putting forth an equal amount of effort. I'm of the train of thought that #17 would win and eventually humble Piccolo, but not at his leisure. In any case, even if Cell (who was indubitably much stronger at that point, though announcing that sort of did away with the weight of tension in my view) didn't interject, it wouldn't have been long until Mirai Trunks and Vegeta finished their run in the RoSaT, if that answers anything.

I don't think Vegeta or Trunks could've gotten there in time before Piccolo would be defeated by 17. There's Cells fight with 17 an Piccolo, 16s fight with Incomplete Cell, Tiens Ki Ko Ho attack holding Cell back, and Cells search for 18. That's a lot of time for 17 and Piccolo to finish the remains of their fight.

Well #17 has the stamina advantage obviously, but Piccolo's got the smarts!

Seriously, don't underestimate Piccolo; he'd've probably pulled something out of his arse at the last moment.

I must agree. When it comes to battle experience Piccolo is the master. #17 has this cocky idea - "i'm the strongest being and nothing can touch me". Piccolo had more techniques in his sleeve. For example Kyodaika (mentioned in other topic) or that blast fired at Cell (#17 was terrified when he saw that attack). The outcome would not be one-sided. But with wounds on both sides i would still put my bet on Piccolo.

Android #17 would've did the samething to Piccolo's blast, that he did to that other attack Piccolo did. He would've used his barrier.

I think #17 is as skilled as Piccolo, but Piccolo is clearly a smarter fighter then him. I don't know who would've won, though? Maybe #17 because of his infinite energy reactor, while Piccolo woudl wear down more & more.

But the energy barrier was used on hundreds of weak attacks. You don't know if it could withstand one powerful blast. Reaction of #17 denies it.
