"Twists"? Kaio-sama's statment may suggest that the humans had wanted to learn Goku's techniques.

Tenshinhan: "I can't hope to surpass Goku at the same training regimen...But if I master the essentials of the technique...and add a few twists of my own......I should be able to avoid another humiliating defeat..."
Tenshinhan's idea was to close the gap between himself and Goku while on Kaio-sama's, as he still felt that he could. Through the many benefits he would receive during his training, it's certain that he would have eventually surpassed Goku in a fairly short amount of time (look at the increase Piccolo achieved in only six days time). One of those benefits being working with four other people, one being stronger than yourself and as eager to train, if not more so. Kaio-sama: "And they want training even tougher than what you got!" I don't see how that hints at Piccolo, Tenshinhan, Yamcha and Chaozu wanting to learn Goku's techniques. Since they wanted training tougher than what Goku received...they wanted the same training that Goku received, only harder, allowing them to get more of a benefit from it. That would have included learning the Kaio-ken and Genki Dama, but it's apparent that they never actually got around to learning the techniques of Kaio-sama (for various reasons), ultimately just receiving the physical training. Also, what I highlighted in red sort of suggests, in my view, that Tenshinhan wanted to know the Kaioken; or some sort of technique on Kaio-Sama's. At the time, was he aware that Goku was going to train on the way to Namek? Quote:

I suppose that is a possibility, and could have very well been self-taught during the time we don't see him training on Kaio-sama's. I tend to lean more towards the "I want to know the basics of Kaio-sama's training and techniques" side, though. Yes, Goku told Yamcha he was going to be going through gravity that made 10 Gs look like nothing, and I'm sure he told everyone else. Ten even stated that with Goku's new training he should be able to use the Kaio-ken up to a factor of 10. |

2) Correct, you put in your own explanation. Kaio said they would undergo harsh training. From the looks of Piccolo...that's what they did. Nothing is said about Kaioken specifically, but Piccolo commented disdain "What? That blaste Kaio never said anthing about Spirit Bomb!". What's strange is that we never see anyone use Kaio-ken. But again, they were stated to be going though harsher training (since the gain has decreased as they are stronger). When Freeza is defeated, Ten stated he wanted to stay longer. Why, then, if he "used-up" all the benefit???

Yes...I don't see the misunderstanding. What you stated was never directly stated in the series by anyone, but highly implied. It's a bit inane to try to say he didn't train harder. I was simply explaining the whole situation. It's clear we agree with each other all-in-all.

Firstly, keep the air of enmity down to a minimum, let alone the enmity. Secondly, I don't see where all of the hooplah over the matter Tyro and ANB speak of stems from. To be assiduous, in Goku's case, he had both the time and the knowledge that great danger was heading the way of the Earth. Tenshinhan, let alone the rest of the humans (and Piccolo, as duly-noted) did not have the incentive to learn the same techniques in question, especially considering it was only a few days later that Goku defeated the former Tyrant of the universe. Tenshinhan's statement on the impact of the matter was less an immediate response as it was a tactical notion.
As for learning at a faster rate? Goku may have been Saiyan, but that isn't too pertinent when humans and a Namekian gain similar progress (with nothing more than application and fervent devotion in comparison to Saiyans) on Kaio-sama's planet in a matter of days. Nail alone was impressed by Bukujutsu Piccolo projected, if that says anything. To me, all of that validates the aforesaid.

Tenshinhan wanted to stay. Chaozu, as a result, wanted to stay with him. THAT'S why Yamcha was left. It was Chaozu who said "I want to stay with him,". Quote:

Kaio-sama: "Oh...yes. You can't resurrect people twice..." Chaozu: "..." Tenshinhan: "Don't worry, Chaozu. I'll stay behind too. We'll always be together, right?" This was stated before Namek exploded, while Kaio-sama was talking to Kami-sama about the wish to make on the Earth dragon balls. Narrator: "Since Chaozu and Tenshinhan want to return together, Yamcha is elected for this round of resurrection." This was stated while using Porunga on Earth to wish back those who had died. All pointing to the fact that Tenshinhan remained behind because he desired to remain with Chaozu. |
