Saiyan saga question!

I reccently purchased the season 1 box set of DBZ and in one
episode Krillion and Piccolo were fighting Nappa and Krillion asks if
Piccolo had some "new killer attack" to use and Piccolosaid he didnt.
Then in a later episode Krillion used the Destructro DIsk he learned
while training. Why would Krillion wait to use that attack?
Especcily when Krillion's friend Tein was getting beaten. Also
why didn't Piccolo usethe Special Beam Cannon?

1. Krillen didn't use the Destructo Disc because he didn't want to. Maybe he was scared of using it.

2. Piccolo didn't use the Special Beam Cannon because it would take a LONG while to charge and Nappa isn't patient.

I would gamble that Kuririn was reserving the Kienzan for a time in which it could be most effectively used, as he did later on. They also had another Saiyan to fight after Nappa, for all they knew.
Also, Piccolo did use the Makankosappo on Nappa when they surprise attacked him and he was flying at the ground. He doesn't yell it and it isn't shown much because it misses, along with Kuririn's Kamehame-Ha.
